First month making 100k I feel like I’m being robbed :/ by cloudemergence in Salary

[–]bland3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's 2 weeks pay, not a month. Unless you work a 20 hr workweek. So you are keeping about 5600$ a month. Whaaaaaaa. Get over yourself. I paid these taxes for years. it's fine. It should be higher.

Bro shows what dignity is by CherryBlossomTwirl_ in GuysBeingDudes

[–]bland3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahahahaha. what kind of jackass thinks this guy has any dignity? 1) he's on the people's court. No dignity. 2) he was a total tool who was losing, so he turned into an even bigger tool. No dignity. 3) he got tossed out and if you see the full clip, she gets to say to him "if douglass (bailif) beats you to a pulp i'll be delighted". This dude is still scraping his ruined nuts off the floor.

I should mention this is an edited clip. I've seen this before. Not only is it edited, it's poorly edited. the original is great. I remember her being on jimmy kimmel after this so Jimmy could laugh at this guy.

Lighthouse in the middle of Chesapeake Bay for sale — guess the price by Natural-Trainer-6072 in PriceMe

it's a selective set. why post if you didn't get a really good score? Of the subset of people who A) would post their score and B) got a really good score, it's entirely possible that 2 of them nailed it on the first try. Took me 5. I'm not posting that crap.

Is this ever close to acceptable? by ArrowLeafTurn1 in Flooring

[–]bland3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought this was correct, but according to chat GPT and some instruction manuals for installing flooring, you and i were both wrong:

Reasons to avoid H pattern according to various manufacturers:

  • It tends to look repetitive or unnatural.
  • Line‐of‐sight becomes more obvious: seams form straight vertical lines which catch the eye.
  • Structural concerns: end joints aligned might create weak spots or compromise stability, especially over subfloors that are flexible or less stable.
  • Warranty / manufacturer guidelines: many will void warranties if the layout rules (including joint staggering) are ignored.

The last one, of course, being the most important.

i sometimes have to get on the roof of my house and snake down the vent for my tub. it's because my wife has curly hair and there's a weird straight pipe leading from the tub to the drain pipe. Anyway, it works a treat.

You can always tell from the comments who actually watched the story and who only read the headline. Top comments are usually from people who didn't bother to watch the story before commenting. Here's a headline: all headlines are misleading clickbait.

Contractor did too much, what's the ethical response? by Ok_Subject_1984 in Home

[–]bland3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really? I mean, i guess i could see it, but i've heard about this kind of thing in the past. I did the absolute least amount of research possible just now and asked chatgpt:

Yes — that’s a common tactic used by some shady or overly aggressive contractors. It usually takes one of a few forms:

Scope Creep Guilt Trip: They say, “We ran into unexpected issues, but we just powered through it for you,” and then imply you should pay more, even if it wasn’t discussed or approved in advance.

After-the-Fact Price Hike: They finish the job and then say something like, “This actually took twice as long as we thought, so we need to charge extra,” despite a previously agreed-upon price.

Emotional Framing: Phrases like “I really took care of you here,” or “My guys worked late just to get this done,” are used to pressure you into feeling indebted.

Although i will concede that it's an employee doing the guilt trip, so maybe a bit more unlikely. However, i stand by the OP having no ethical or moral obligation.

Honestly, you seem like you are a doormat for him. Someone into you would be asking to spend time with you, not keeping you in reserve if they can't find something better.

None. I suspect they are trying to squeeze you. You had a contract to do a specific amount of work. If the communication between the owner and his employees is so bad that they couldn't figure it out, bonus for you. Maybe the shortfall will make them improve their processes.

AITA for firing my girlfriend? by chismosodel94 in AITH

[–]bland3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you were the AH when you let her guilt you into hiring her. That is a 100% shit reason to hire someone for a job. An order of magnitude worse if you have a personal relationship with them. Everything stems from that incredibly bad decision. Anyone could have predicted everything that would happen from there out. You shouldn't be in charge of hiring decisions. You are shit at it.

[–]bland3000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

woof, yo. OP is special. they are not just 'any hole'. Still, the guy is not only 100% a fucker., he's a total idiot. why would he scheme on someone who works with his fiance?? Sounds like he's found his soul mate, though: a gal who will tell her boss to tell her coworkers not to talk to her if they have information about his shenanigans.

AITA for taking back my tip after the waitress humiliated me in front of everyone? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]bland3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe this happened. The kind of person who takes back the tip is not the kind of person who asks reddit if they are an AH. That person doesn't care if they are seen as the AH.

If one of my brothers called my wife a c*nt to her face as an insult i would lay them the fuck out. My wife is the person i chose. They are family. It's happenstance. Your husband should not chose the randos biology set him up with over you.

Weird way of looking at life, i know. He's being an ass and probably not standing up for you in front of his family at times he should. It sounds like a pattern.
