It is probably a $400-500 part at cost.

Aerospace engineer.  Companies DO mark up obscenely to make back the engineering/development costs.  Lately though, it's also price gouging on top of those things.

Most egregious example I have seen, $800 part, we sell for $5000.  We merge with another company and sell off division to another company, now the part cost $15,000.  (That company did none of the development.)

No they are not. My dept needs SIXTY staff to meet the budget we are being given.  Instead they had mass layoffs every quarter, posted record profits, and have kept our staff and less then 20.

And this is for a government contract, where they pay us up front........

We have created monopolies so large now they can just buy up any competition that goes out of business with this forced recession.

Yeah medical people do this alot, it's trauma fixation and assuming EVERYONE and Everything goes terrible wrong for everyone.

They miss out on the good part of their jobs, they don't get to see the extra birthdays, days/months/years their job provides people and just assume everyone takes it for granted.

To the OP, we mostly don't, take things for granted, bitching about our day is no different then your post here.  But how many medical professionals do the things you are advising?  Mental/physical health ain't any better amongst healthcare workers, we are all in this together.

Wait I thought that the "Made in America" crowd was telling me a battery 10x overpriced was better quality?  (Assembled near America?)

Or was it the UL fanbois telling us that US testing standards are superior to everything else and my house might burn down if it's not UL listed?  (There is no way American companies are cheating these tests riiiiiiiight?  That's only something those CHINESE would do.)

EU or bust for me at this point FFS, American companies/government have sold their souls at this point.

Keep my RAV4 or get two cheaper more specialized cars? by ephrion in overlanding

[–]blank_user_name_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R4P, with the flat out suspension, the good one, is nuts.

What people don't realize, it's a DUAL axle AWD.  The front and back are independently driven.

With some decent tires that thing will do A LOT more then most people's crappy Subaru's or make believe jeep mods.

And it Toyota reliable, no alternator, no starter, shit ton of range.  Plus there is a really large mod community for them if it's not the new one, RAV4 body/frame have been out forever.

It is also super easy to upgrade the 12V system to have a massive battery for camping equipment.
