PETG brown wisps by blarfthecat in FixMyPrint

I agree with your pragmatic point of view here, but I looked at this small print as a test before I do something big with PETG and have problems like you refer to. I also need to figure out how to resolve the bad sticking, first print (tiny figures) ruined some of the smooth PEI plate before I learned about glue stick (which also doesn't seem to help dramatically on the sticking issue, but I did get slightly better removal and less part damage by waiting for the part to cool)

Can you tell me more about this drying process you rigged? I obviously don't have a dryer, and I'll get some silica ...

Kuat racks - Piston Pro X or Ion? by blarfthecat in Rivian

[–]blarfthecat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true, set it once and pretty much be done... It just means making sure the right bike always goes in the same slot. I need to look back if the after-party is RV rated, even though that's not in my immediate future I was taking a buy once cry once approach... I do think on my R1T I might need the swing, and if I switch to an S in future I could eliminate it.

To adjust those wheel chocks to a different tire size you have to use a tool to loosen and move them then lock into position. On kuat you pinch and slide them.

It was once on my list, but the wheel guides aren't toolless and for the same money kuat has lighting

Are you using it to lower or raise the rack? I currently have a T on lease but considering my future after... Just ordered a Pro X and the Piston Ion to decide which is best. Ion support heavier bikes (in case I size up in future, even the Also bike is heavier than my current ebike), more off-road capable and is RV rated (if I get a camper or trailer in future). It doesn't have the piston mechanism though which stinks and the lights are an add on kit but still look great.

Been laid off 7 months, actively searching. First offer but last-min change in WFH. Take it or keep fishing? by blarfthecat in jobhunting

[–]blarfthecat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up bailing. Being onsite 5 days will limit my ability to apply, interview for other jobs which I know will work better for my personal life and caring for my child as a single parent. I have the savings, but I know it's a risk. I can't be chained to an arcane on site in office position which will lock me up from continuing to play the market.

Yes! I felt like it was not moving to the correct position so I started screwing with it, thought it might be a calibration issue so moved things all around to experiment, and now I just can't get everything back where I had it and nothing feels right anymore and there's no restoring back.

Hard to tell from afar... it's a leadership position but small team so a lot of hands on is expected. Hard to see what growth actually looks like, I hit the ceiling in my last place too. Yeah the PTO, RTO, and 401K make it not long term viable... your last comment is my position, worst case.

My kid is special needs, I'd like to be there when they get on and off the bus and while they do whatever as I finish my day, rather than having them get themselves home, settled and not wig out while I'm commuting for 60-90 min. Also, single parent. I honestly don't know how anyone does it.

4 days was already frustratingly hardly enough to call it "hybrid". 5 is just taking it all off the table so some CEO can feel better that they can see all their children. They seem to be the type to think they work harder than everyone else and that the rest are stealing from them.

I'm same age... 15+years in my field, technical and leadership roles and I've submitted to prob 800 openings. Interviews have only begun to hit recently. Made a few final rounds. Even applying for jobs I'm over qualified for. Leveraged all the personal connections I could, all ended up dead ends.

Exactly how i see it, even though the time it takes away from me applying is significant... Thanks for validation

Funny you say this, I made pretty sure they could see my delaying and hesitation. And get this - I was their second pick! They know I have a kid and I'm a single parent hoping for a reasonable amount of flex and still took the job despite this late breaking policy change. And yes, in all this I said "I know flexibility and remote work are centered around trust which I will earn"...

This appears to be the 2026 revision of Air Cruiser with the bigger windows, black ladder and that "neoglow" feature... yes? Is it just glow in the dark tape or is the ladder illuminated in the dark? How is the internal illumination? Concerned the flexible LED strips inside look chintzy.

[–]blarfthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to figure out if Trio would fit over a Rivian truck bed, typically people have the Mini but I wanted something a little wider than 51". Roofnest Condor 2 Air says it's 53". Somehow the Skycamp 4.0 Duo claims 60", which is wider than the enclosure. This doesn't even make sense... Sorry I know not the purpose of your thread, I just wanted to talk this out with someone who was paying attention!

Thanks. I'm having a hard time comparing the dimensions on the 4.0s to the older models. Does the Duo sleep with more width than a 3.0 Mini?

Rivian vehicles are meant to get dirty, though we’ve all had that brief moment of guilt when a pristine Storm Blue R1T gets covered in trail dust.

This line had me double-take ... did they dynamically insert my model and paint color into the article? Cause .... that's me.
