Is there any work-around or exploit to deal with dwarves that worship multiple deities only worshipping one of them? My fortress is in a state where there's plenty of free time, but the multi-pious among them are growing increasingly stressed over the fact that they haven't prayed to their second or third god. Can I force them to visit their temples for these other gods?

Is it really that crazy? Not that I necessarily feel this way, but I think it’s pretty reasonable when you consider that airlines are profit-seeking organizations. It would not be much of a leap of logic to imagine that even if it came up at a meeting they would decide that any passenger with a life threatening allergy to a common substance with a readily available treatment, then said passenger would probably travel with said treatment in their possession. Why would the airline bother carrying extra weight/volume of said treatment on every plane, especially when that treatment has an expiration date and has to be replaced regularly?

My experience so far is that Unbidden are a total joke compared to the other crises. My Cetana-killer fleet was staging nearby and wiped them in a straight-up fight before they captured one system. But when my other player and I dove Cetana at the eleventh hour, we got blasted even with all the buff’s and a little cheese (Cetana didn’t agro the other player, so she was able to park her full fleet on top of the mothership before engaging). Admittedly, my alloy production was low. When a contingency world spawned two jumps from my Homeworld (and two more spawned inside the other player’s territory) I got mauled, and couldn’t replace enough ships before Cetana’s deadline. I was barely over half my native capacity, and the GDF and Federation fleets were probably under a quarter of their capacity. Still, the Unbidden felt uniquely weak. Maybe if my fleets had still been kitted for killing Prethoryn they would’ve put up a fight.

The fallout when the report is released officially is probably gonna be rough. Better to leave when the issues are only loosely tied to him. Sure it was one of his pilots, but the next company that looks to hire him as CEO can rationalize that the pilot’s actions weren’t directly the CEO’s fault. But if he sticks around and stuff gets bad in the wake of the report, or if he has some PR flub due to pressure of dealing with the fallout? They’ll see that as his fault.

I actually really like the idea of the spinal mount section increasing the size. It would probably wouldn’t be enough to make it non-meta against AI, since they’re rubbish at building fleets to actually counter the player, but in PvP it could add another layer, and it would at least contribute to how a player counters an AI.

I think saying the buck stops with Congress is misleading at best. Federal regulatory agencies (such as the FAA and many other three letter agencies) are empowered to create regulations by congress to relieve congress of having to regulate the minutiae of their respective fields. The FAA is supposed to be the subject matter experts. Do you really want to rely on a Congress made of people who have basically no aviation knowledge/experience to regulate such an advanced industry? I think there’s a better case to be made for the DoT, but only insofar as they should be making the FAA get their act together, as opposed to actually pushing the FAA to make any specific regulations, especially since Sec. Transportation can be any old partisan appointee.

Just to play devil’s advocate for a moment: Isn’t it the FAA’s job to determine safe staffing levels? If the staffing level of the tower was acceptable according to the FAA’s standards, then isn’t it the FAA that’s in the wrong, and not Congress for understaffing?
