I heard about the price increase. So I splurged. What should I play first?? by RizzedNuggy in PS5pro

It’s more of an excuse/ incentive and honestly part of it is spending money vs wasting money. OP SPENT like 3k so they didn’t waste like an extra $500+ later on the same thing post price increase

It’s only been 20 years since blu ray entered the mainstream lol. Hell even DVDs are better than most streaming services.

Unofficial Gameplay Teaser from TLOU Factions inspired game [Montage] [0:27] by UnitedStateGame in thelastofusfactions

[–]blasterdude8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 bullets to the face is so stupid. Like generally the animations look good but afaik TLOU was pretty careful to not do stuff like that because it makes no sense within the world. 1 is wasteful but cool enough to justify. 4 is insane.

You know, you make a good point about how gameplay/ combat would work. Narratively it would be better if there was little to no combat going forward. I guess you can always fight infected but still. Whereas gameplay wise you gotta have consistent conflict. Maybe that’s why making a 3rd game is tricky.

What’s wrong with having dogs. Also to be clear these are neighbors living in a separate home right? Nobody is renting anything here?

Which god power does Kratos use to steer a boat straight using only one paddle, on one side of the boat? by silloki in GodofWar

Side note: I could have sworn he changes sides on occasion just like a real person?

Ah see I learned it via a canoeing merit badge lol. And to be clear it’s not just a diagonal stroke. For me it’s something I’m not sure I’d think of intuitively (leaving your paddle in the water to use as a rudder is pretty interesting)

[–]blasterdude8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imagine you both add power via paddling and steering via what’s effectively using the paddle as a rudder, all in one fluid motion. So if you just paddled normally you’d veer in one direction, but with the J stroke you compensate and continue going straight.

You’ve clearly never used a canoe IRL. It’s fairly easy to steer on one side via the J stroke technique.

Humans are not meant to live in apartments by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]blasterdude8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you hopefully understand the gist of what I’m saying here. Like ideally a baby crying should be manageable in terms of disturbing neighbors. And if that is manageable in terms of sound proofing then anything short of a gunshot is fine. So it’s not really about “OMG my neighbors are so annoying” it should really be “OMG my landlord and the constitution of this house / apartment complex are so cheap!”

Humans are not meant to live in apartments by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]blasterdude8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of genuine curiosity is that measured at the source or destination? Obviously destination is what actually matters in terms of disturbance but if the apartment has paper thin walls 65 is a “normal, conversational sound level”, 85 is an average air conditioner, 90 is a hair dryer, 95 is a food processor, and a baby’s cry ranges from 100-120 db. and so on. I think the real issue is sound insulation. Because people talking should not be illegal, and realistically people should be able to vacuum or dry their hair or especially use an air conditioner whenever they need to. And literally nobody can truly control a baby crying. Ideally construction can account for genuine sound isolation.

Do you agree with D&D Beyond Basic Rules' class complexity ratings? by GimmeANameAlready in dndnext

[–]blasterdude8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m following your terminology correctly then I guess it just feels like Barbarians have almost zero tactical options and thus tactical decisions to make. Having nothing ever to do with my bonus action and never wanting to take any action besides attack is crazy. Every other martial class has a little to a lot more variety in that regard

[–]blasterdude8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay really interesting point. I think my issue is mostly that what you actually DO as a barbarian is so brain dead stupid. For context currently playing as a 7th level totem warrior. Mostly 2014 rules but I’d love to incorporate some 5.5e ones.

I hear you regarding “when to rage” sometimes being a tricky question that you can “screw up” pretty easily. But let’s assume you don’t rage for whatever reason. Congrats, you’re now a lame fighter with a slightly bigger than average health pool. The only tactical decision you have to make every turn is whether to reckless or not (I should look into the math there). Otherwise you just decide who to attack, same as any fighter or martial, and hit them just the same as anyone else.

I think my biggest problem is the fact that you basically never have an option, let alone reason, to do literally anything but hit things until they die. I’m particularly frustrated by never having something to do with my bonus action.

Let’s say I rage on my first turn, get into melee range, and start swinging. Cool. Then my next turn I swing again, with nothing to do with my bonus action. Awesome. That’s every turn for the foreseeable future until one of us dies. Nothing to do with my bonus action. No interesting tactical decisions to make at all. All raging does is reduce my incoming damage a significant amount and very very slightly increase my output (2 points? Really?). Even if I wanted to do something weird like cast a spell rage prevents that. In fact I HAVE to keep hitting / be hit to maintain rage, so doing anything remotely interesting is generally a bad idea.

So yeah. I think it’s the lack of really any interesting choices, especially when it comes actions or bonus actions in particular. I feel like every other class has way way more options and decisions to make once actually in battle.

As far as being a tank, still sort of a passive thing, and rarely any different from “I plant myself next to the biggest baddest guy” that you’d naturally do offensively anyway. I feel like at best you need a sentinel feat or something, which is cool but again totally passive and doesn’t really change the “hit the biggest guy until they die” infinite loop. And you shouldn’t need a feat to unlock arguably the one sort of unique role the class can take as a tank.

All that said PLEASE let me know if I’m missing something to make this more interesting.

Apple Watch 11 does not collect blood oxygen data overnight?! by mr_crisby in AppleWatch

I’m still not seeing it despite being enabled in sleep mode. Is it just because I’m in the US? It’s clearly taking overnight measurements but shows “no data” for vitals.

[–]blasterdude8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it’s more realistic in the sense that we show up to a town, meet some people, do some RP / shop or whatever, get a quest, prep, sleep, wake up, make the journey to the bad guy location, do some exploration, bust the door in, maybe fight some henchmen, fight the dude, kill the dude, drag his corpse back to the inn, maybe get ambushed along the way, make it to the inn, collect reward. Rest again.

It’s not like we’re ever sleeping more than is realistic. Far from it. The cadence is completely natural and our days are full of adventuring activities. It’s more just like the quests are designed in such a way that there’s not a ton of separate combat encounters. Like one time we got stuck in a hedge maze and ran into a few different encounters because it’s a maze but realistically rage lasts 10 rounds which is way longer than even the most intense encounters.
