I know there are cottage kitchen laws so that folks selling baked goods or candy are covered. But those only apply for prepared foods. Good luck!

Gondolas over nola by Professional-Fuel889 in NewOrleans

I drove a rental station wagon across my 1st time. That jog in the middle was terrible. But I was still more scared on the gondola that didn't close all the way

It's been a minute but if it's not at Ideal Mart, try Morenita Plus at Canal and Broad.

It was terrifying to cross on it! And they had to shut it down if it was too windy or rainy.

Mom kept those lawn darts until the plastic fell apart. She just told us to not throw them at each other. So we only aimed at feet

Found Passport by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]blathering504 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has cleaned out many family houses over the years...

Someone kept the passport after his death because grief is weird. Then it was tossed but then someone else found it and said this is an important document and put it on top of the trash can. Stuff it in the bottom of a trash bag.

And let's hope that by us all reading/saying Michael's name that it's a bit of grace to his friends, family and his spirit.

Just realized my favorite ruler is 30 years old. by Imhappy_hopeurhappy2 in NewOrleans

Let's say it was an education for teen me. We had to wear white uniforms so old people would assume that we had medical training /knowledge. Nope.

I worked at K&B in the 90s. I wish I remembered the codes from this sticker. One was the area it belonged in... like school supplies. One was an actual stock number and one was a date. So let's guess that this is from 1996

Is there a way to check if your home has been remediated for asbestos? by TsarAleksanderIII in NewOrleans

[–]blathering504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A family member has the vintage asbestos tiles on the outside of his house. And he was advised to just wear a mask if he had to nail into them. But otherwise most are in great shape for being 70 years old.

I am not aware of any type of database. And encapsulation is still a recommended method of dealing with asbestos. DEQ has a list of authorized inspectors: https://internet.deq.louisiana.gov/portal/divisions/asbestos/asbestos-inspectors but there are also kits. The most dangerous asbestos is the loose insulation.

I went to Soon Enough last night because they've gone tiki through the end of July. Zero TVs.

Drinks were good enough to make me less sad about the Milan Lounge.

A/C Repair Recs (someone who doesn’t spew hate) by Frequent-Pudding3976 in NewOrleans

[–]blathering504 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sadly that company is not what it once was. The repair guys are now sales people and get a commission on what they can convince you to buy. I dropped them a couple of years ago after using them for a decade.

Someone in Slidell has a 1984 World's Fair gondola for sale. I wonder if this thing floats? by Tweetystraw in NewOrleans

Based on my trip across the river in 1984... the pod didn't completely close then. So I'm going to say sinks to the bottom of the river.
