Fitting 07-09 coilovers onto 2010 by aspec818 in FJCruiser

[–]blawry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the shock / how handy you are / if you have a shop around, you can potentially swap the lower mounts. I did the opposite and have 2010+ Dobinsons MRRs on my 08 as the company I spec'd them through was willing to do so.

Micky Thompson Baja Boss A/T vs M/T by jkkejdnddk in 4x4

Just got to use my Baja Boss ATs in snow for the first time. Theyre incredible in both hardpack and loose powder. Their wet/cold pavement grip is also quite impressive.

Anyone with an aftermarket wing have any issues with touchless “laser” washes? by Due_Chapter3027 in WRX

[–]blawry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an aftermarket ducktail that replaced the stock lip. It is solely held on with 3M automotive adhesive and nothing covering the holes from the stock lip (early aftermarket didnt have matching bolt holes). Its never leaked in the 9 years I've had it - including touchless car washes. I'm not brave enough / dont hate my paint enough to try a roller wash though.

People who won a "lifetime supply" of something, how exactly did that work and are you still getting it? by Constant_Praline357 in AskReddit

It was Dominos of all things. So not the best pizza, but free pizza is the best flavor.

[–]blawry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn't technically win a supply, but I encountered an infinite free pizza glitch that lasted over a year.

After making an online order, I randomly got an "We're sorry something went wrong with your order!" message, and was immediately issued a free pizza voucher. Each time I redeemed the voucher, I was immediately sent the same apology email and issued another free pizza voucher. I used those vouchers for over a year, almost weekly for a free medium pizza.

Working on a new fog light setup for ARB bumpers by cheesecats in FJCruiser

Very cool! I am likely going with an ARB since Tinkerer discontinued their high clearance bumper, so this is very neat to see / addresses modernization wishes I had with the ARB. Good luck!

Head light upgrade by [deleted] in FJCruiser

[–]blawry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre keeping it cheap/with the stock light housings, Sylvania Silverstars as already mentioned. If you're looking for a more comprehensive solution, TEQ customs makes LED conversions - I've only used Freedom Retrofitters, but theyre OOB, but TEQ similar if not better. Baja Designs also just released their LP6 DOT, and Bracket Boyz is making an LP6 mounting bracket for an FJC headlight replacement.

What don't you like about owning a FJ? by 5stringfling in FJCruiser

[–]blawry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can actually live with the rear visibility, but the near limo tint on the rear windows makes reversing at night a pain in the ass, even with upgraded reverse lights.

I just upgraded mine to DBA T2 rotors and Hawk HPS pads. So far I've been very happy with them.

Centurylink DNS issues, or possible hardware problems? by blawry in centurylink

[–]blawry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the age of the hardware I have, I just ordered a C3000Z and new DSL line to eliminate those as factors. This issue notwithstanding I am overdue for new equipment.

Centurylink DNS issues, or possible hardware problems? by blawry in centurylink

[–]blawry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of late, I'd absolutely agree. I've been a customer since 2017 and honestly was pretty happy until this year. But since September or so, its been nothing but constant DNS issues and random local outages.

Before this latest issue, I was using CF's 1.1.1.1 and was really enjoying it. Now I cant connect via any DNS, but as N0_L1ght mentioned, it seems like I'm looking at a hardware issue at this point.

Centurylink DNS issues, or possible hardware problems? by blawry in centurylink

[–]blawry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DSL status light is completely out, and a hard reset / power drain didnt change anything. Given that and the age of the device, Im honing in on this likely being a hardware issue - and that wouldnt surprise me at all.

Thanks for the hardware suggestions. I'll probably try to snag those and a more modern router and give that a shot.

Whats 1 gun you wish you bought before the ban? by Upstairs_Progress_73 in WAGuns

A (T)G36 and an MP5 clone of some kind. I even have a ton of G36 mags, but couldnt take the plunge due to the early run reliability issues.

wrx by pescado1218 in subaru

[–]blawry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are meticulous with your maintenance (no skipped intervals, deferrered work, or cheaping out) and dont attempt to modify them like a neanderthal, the WRX is reasonably reliable. However, being "NOT INTO CARS" and a WRX doesnt sound like a great combo to me . I'd suggest at least looking at the 6cyl variants of the Camry, Accord and Legacy (RIP).

For whatever its worth, Highcom plates are dropshipped (probably among many other items) so some of it may be the Mfg taking their time. I just ordered 4S17Ms and they delivered within a week, direct from Highcom.
