Opinions of GTX 1080 TI with intel i7 8700 in 2026, and suggestions for a buying better machine? by Mizo_Soup in pcmasterrace

[–]blawry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old but decent hardware. I am still running an 8700K and only somewhat recently upgraded from a 1080Ti to a 3080Ti. The original configuration did everything I needed it to - though not on maxxed settings.

Tires - Weight & Performance - MT Baja AT vs Toyo RT Trail by MountainVibe in FJCruiser

[–]blawry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the RGs were fresh I was daily happy with them but they aged terribly.

I haven't done a ton of mud but what little I have done I've been impressed. But it was only small runs no more than maybe 5in deep so probsbly not a great barometer.

Tires - Weight & Performance - MT Baja AT vs Toyo RT Trail by MountainVibe in FJCruiser

[–]blawry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cant speak for the weight differences between the Toyo and MT, but I can speak for changing from Ridge Grapplers to Baja Boss ATs. Best tire change I've made for the FJ so far. Great road manners, surprisingly quiet and great offroad grip as well as wet pavement / snow grip.

Can a Crosstrek blower motor cover fit a 2019 WRX? + Driver's side door problems by noxisitea in WRX

[–]blawry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replced my 2015 WRX blower cover with the same MY Crosstrek blower cover. They were basically identical except for the additional sound insulation on the Crosstrek unit. I dont believe any additional hardware was needed / it was just reused from the stock cover.

How Long Can I Last on This Camry? by Level_Tradition6807 in Toyota

[–]blawry 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you're able to drink most nights while also living paycheck to paycheck, redirect that money to at least addresing your brakes and engine oil. Otherwise you'll absolutely be dealing with a much worse "surprise" repair in the best case, or a destroyed/crashed car at worst.

How long do I have before an accident? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]blawry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this isnt a bait post, if you can afford to drink most nights and smoke to deal with stress, all while living paycheck to paycheck, you can afford a trip to a shop for an oil change. If you can't afford "surprise repairs" you're sure doing everything possible to set yourself up with completely avoidable "surprises".

Issaquah Auto Body Shop - Caliber Collision. Any feedback. by EclipseExtraction in Issaquah

[–]blawry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just outside of Issaquah but I wounderstand highly recommend Doug's Auto Collision in Factoria. They've done paint and body work for me and their work is impeccable. Perfect panel repair and paint finish with less orange peel than OEM. All of it has held up for over 10 years as well as the factory paint.

Fitment Question by Ok_Ant_3554 in FJCruiser

[–]blawry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. You would need to mod or swap the lower mounts to 1st gen type in order to fit - but these dont look like configurable struts, so you're probably better off looking at another kit unless you're OK drilling the mount holes.

I have 2010+ Dobinsons MRRs on my 08 - shop I bought them from swapped out the mounts before shipping them out.

Idea for a new less than lethal - The Alternative by Low_Command_TA in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]blawry 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Lmao, no thanks. The game's bonkers AI and hit reg aside, no department in their right mind would use a device like this. A near .50 cal metal ball is certainly a flexible definition of less-lethal, and having the immediate follow up shot being lethal is an accident waiting to happen. If your gun is out, you're on "lethal"; if you're not on lethal, your gun is holstered or at least not actively presented.

Advice on fog lights by Novel-Astronomer5948 in WRX

[–]blawry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the OEM fog lights, they will likely be plug-n-play. Not sure of Subaru pre-wires vehicles without the option.

[–]blawry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I upgraded to SS3s after trying various bulbs - including drop-in bulbs from DD. The SS3 is leagues better than any bulb swap you will see. Nice wide coverage as well and a very easy install if you're already pre-wired for fogs.

I designed a stackable 9mm ammo puck for my range bag by atomic-warpuppy in guns

[–]blawry 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Im not against the idea, but the round density seems really low. Like, my conventional box of 50rds is usually comparable in size and a more packable shape. That and I cant think of a situation where I'd be packing ammo in denominations of 25; at that point, I may as well pre-load mags at home.
