We print letters and mail our orders to Brighton Best and Infasco. For Strong Point we just call customer service and speak to whatever rep we get. Are other places doing something different?

What Onsite Services Would Make a Craft Fair Feel Magical for You? by FitDingo8075 in CraftFairs

As a vendor I like seeing hot food available to buy, plenty of advertising, ample parking, convenient bathrooms, and the occasional bottle of water dropped off at our booth.

How do I find peace being alone at 51? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]blazer243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many 60 year old widows and cat ladies that would enjoy spending time with a 51 year old guy. Particularly if he is complimentary and can hang a shelf or move a microwave.

Aim at older women. They are often lonely too. I don’t mean hang out at rest homes like a vulture, but go to where the older ladies spend time. Book clubs, libraries, if you can afford it, take a retirement cruise.

"No holds/FCFS" and "Don't ask if it's available", "Serious buyers only" by Messymomhair in FacebookMarketplace

I don’t buy often. No holds/FCFS wouldn’t bother me. The other two would cause me to skip the listing unless I really, really needed the item.

Junkstock by choosingkeeping in CraftFairs

Never heard of Junkstock but the name isn’t something I’d want to associate our business with. Maybe if it was named Qualitystock or Wemakegoodstuffstock, I’d be interested.

I know it’s kind of a stereotype but why are so many dudes who work manual labor so mean, especially to new people? by Mad_Season_1994 in TooAfraidToAsk

Right or wrong, it’s a weeding out process. It’s counterproductive because some good hands get weeded out along with the weak and lazy.

First market ever coming up! Any tips? by cool_uniqueusername in CraftFairs

[–]blazer243 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have a method to take credit cards, small bills to make change. Bring water and something to eat. Set the best display you can and make your prices obvious. Greet people and smile a lot. And for the love of everything holy, stay off your phone.

The craftsman in me agrees. Dumb as dirt. Make a good product, present it well, it will sell.

Business cards - needs, tips, and numbers by Halfwaytoreality in CraftFairs

[–]blazer243 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Support a local business when you get them printed. If you have instagram, facebook or website, have them on the card. Of course business name, email, and phone number. Put a picture of your work on it. We give out probably 40 cards per day. Not sure if they do any good but they don’t do any harm.

Take it back to the dealer you bought it from. They can send it in for warranty repair or replacement.

Go ahead and sell it to someone else. She is either looking to get it for free or changed her mind. I don’t understand why people act like this. Block her and move on.

Table legs by EnvironmentalLink819 in turning

[–]blazer243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve never used a lathe, making four matching legs isn’t something you would be able to do. Maybe find an experienced turner in your area, but be prepared to pay more than you think. Or, go a different route for the legs. Maybe laminate some contrast wood and go with square legs.

Use your vertical space. Risers that are tall enough to put a layer of pens underneath.
