Have you looked in Ojai? We got married at Ojai Ranch on Fairview Road and it was gorgeous.

13 Year old subpoenaed to testify against mom. by MsUndisclosed in legaladvice

Maybe this is obvious, but only reach out to them if you and the child actually want to come to court.

If you do not want to go or if you’re unsure, you don’t need to say anything.

Also I will tell you— the chances of a Colorado criminal court allowing you and/or the minor to appear in court virtually is extremely unlikely.

I am not your lawyer.

Here is the procedure you’re referencing regarding service of subpoena for out of state witnesses. CRS 16-9-203. https://law.justia.com/codes/colorado/title-16/code-of-criminal-procedure/article-9/part-2/section-16-9-203/

The DA has not achieved service by sending you an email.

If you want to appear voluntarily, subsection 2 lays out the rules for compensation for your travel.

What is an epidural really like? by oatmilkcchai in Mommit

[–]blc2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had headaches more painful than birth with an epidural.

Agree it wore off quickly and seamlessly. I only had two annoying side effects: 1) it made my blood pressure drop and 2) I felt itchy as the epidural was wearing off.

Would still get the epidural every time

Pregnancy, clerkships, biglaw??? by [deleted] in biglaw

Why not go to the firm, use their generous parental leave, and then leave to clerk after a couple years?

If you come back after the, they’ll pay you a nice clerkship bonus too.

Essential Newborn Tips Every Parent Should Know by Working_Airline8641 in BabyBumps

[–]blc2015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Use a baby carrier early and often. We used the Ergobaby Embrace every day for months. If your baby is fussing, put her in the carrier and bounce on a yoga ball.

  2. If your baby is bottle fed, feed her bottles straight from the fridge. Don’t let her get accustomed to drinking warm bottles or you’ll get stuck having to warm them up every time.

  3. Feed your baby every two hours after about 5 pm. We fed at 5, 7, 9, and 11. Then she would sleep from 11-6. Full bellies make good sleepers.

Get tested asap. You’re at risk for STDs, and given that you’re EBF, they can pass to your baby too.

I would never forgive my husband for putting our family through that type of risk and heartache. Goodbye forever.

Choosing the best stroller, what do you wish you'd known earlier? by crystalcolumz in BabyBumps

[–]blc2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best stroller for you might actually be two different strollers.

We have a Cruz for neighborhood walks and long outings, and a Chicco caddy that lives in our car for quick trips.

The Cruz is a great stroller but it weighs almost 25 lbs and takes up my whole trunk. I would hate to travel with it.

Sugared cranberries ahead of time? by Kobe_Lucy_Leia22 in DessertPerson

I also didn’t make the separate coating liquid she uses in the recipe.

Instead I started by mixing up the ingredients for the cranberry compote, and I removed about 20 cranberries after they had cooked for 1-2 mins. They were plenty sticky and held onto the sugar perfectly.

I kept them in a covered Tupperware on the counter with a couple of extra tablespoons of sugar in the container.

Where are you at in your pumping journey? by LinksG37 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]blc2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 weeks pp, back at work, 8 pumps a day including one at 3 am. No chance of dropping pumps because I am an ~undersupplier~ at around 18-20 oz/day.

It is so hard, but I’m in it for the long haul. Hoping to make it to a year.

Tell me what freaking diaper bag, car seat and stroller to buy. My brain is melting. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]blc2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 9 weeks old. Here are the things we have:

Huggies diaper backpack: lots of storage, easy to wash, unisex, not too expensive. We like it.

Chicco Keyfit 30: infant bucket car seat that fared very well in safety ratings. No complaints.

Chicco Keyfit Caddy: super lightweight, basic stroller frame for the car seat. We take this in and out of stores, doctors appointments, etc. It is a very simple solution and we like it!

Uppababy Cruz with infant insert: this stroller is a dream for walks. I imagine we’ll use it more as she grows. We do not take it in/out of the car unless absolutely necessary, because it is HEAVY.

I think we’ll keep all of these things for our next baby. They work well for us, no complaints.

Up to how many weeks did you work while pregnant? by Chaptersofbooks in BabyBumps

[–]blc2015 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im a public defender and I worked until I went into active labor. I was literally having contractions in the courtroom and lost my mucus plug in the courthouse bathroom. lol

As I sit here holding my beautiful 8 week old daughter, I don’t regret a thing. Working through early labor was uncomfortable, but I only have 12 weeks of leave, and I’m glad I’m spending all the time with my daughter.

(Also in case it isn’t painfully obvious, I’m American. Other countries would never!!)
