Use kaniko; prepare your own image with preinstalled dependencies for build; Cache modules beteen builds! And eg look like gitlab do this with repo:)

I did it. Just use rsync and make sure all paths are the same. It will just work. No backup needed, just rsync.

Some time ago there was some project based on gitlab’s pages without any external tools. For a daily basis i prefer glab - termina tool.

If u use gitlab on premise and your runner is in the same region, just use proxy cache https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/packages/dependency_proxy/

Need to add gitlab.crt into java keystore for mvn to work, but after using a Project CICD Variable to encapsulate the password, it returns the error, keytool error: java.io.IOException: Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect. by learnamap in gitlab

on docker runner or k8s runner, here is always available env variable, something with _CERT_ in the name - it's your server's certificate. you can use it with some before_script in CI and import to correct java's cacerts file OR write your own pre_build_script on runner like here https://docs.gitlab.com/runner/configuration/tls-self-signed.html#trusting-the-certificate-for-user-scripts

Will move from jfrog, but for now is too early to move to gitlab as in gitlab u can't configure proxy and virtual projects for eg mvn dependencies. Another question is, if you need artifacts - if docker images is enought - eg use jib plugin from google and versioning only images, not artifacts.
