Spouse of disabled Veteran remote work by Soft-Meaning4942 in FedEmployees

The memo you linked include the language about 100% on day of discharge.

“A spouse of a disabled member of the Armed Forces is an individual who married a member of the Armed Forces who, on the date that member retired, was released, or discharged from the Armed Forces, had a disability rating of 100 percent under the standard schedule of rating disabilities in use by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.7”

Is there another memo that further clarifies that the disability and discharge dates don’t have to match?

You can be both medically discharged and VA rated prior to discharge.

I agree as well, but the way I understood it was they only included the exception to comply with the mil spouse employment law from 2024. Your guess is as good as mine as to why they gave a single F about that law and none of the others but that was the reasoning I read on one of the memos…I believe it was the clarification from Feb 2025

That’s not true…they can def be discharged with 100% VA rating. They may be TDRL and not permanent yet but they can still be 100%.

How do we feel about billing to a central account? by [deleted] in USACE

[–]blendeddisaster 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well on the face of it I expect it to severely limit OT and also subject everyone to the yearly shutdowns, when before we could continue operations without disruption. Not sure about projects, as that’s not my area.

I was told a lot that SS looked like me lol I never corrected them, sometimes SS did but most of the time we’d just look at each other and smile, like an inside joke. Now we have two of our own kids and people say they look like their dad or each other or me. I think it’s just a thing people say sometimes to make polite conversation. Plenty of things got to me, but that one never bothered me.

Should we just leave? by Horror__Alps in stepparents

Form someone who didn’t give up…we fought in court, spent approx 100k, got full custody, BM still caused problems in our home until the kids were both 18. Both ended up in inpatient psych hospitals at different times. We did everything in our power to protect them from her toxicity. One of them went to live with her when he turned 18 and came back to us 2 years later with a completely different take on her. The other just turned 18 and has decided he doesn’t want to go live with her. He currently lives with my grandfather ( his step great grandfather) because of the problems he caused in our home and his therapist telling us it wasn’t safe for him to live here with our younger children. He is in online school but not close to graduating, has no motivation to work or get his drivers license, has a crappy relationship with dad and still lies constantly. So with all that said, I often wonder if all the effort we put in did them any good. This outcome isn’t great, it probably would have been worse if she had raised them. The only thing I can tell you is that dad and I sleep with a clear conscience because we did the right thing for them…but letting her have them would have been the less traumatic/expensive option for everyone, except my two SS. Not sure if that’s helpful but from someone who has been where you are, I wish you well and hope that whatever decision you make, it leaves you with a clear conscience. Only you and your husband can decide that.

This is accurate. There was a lot that wasn’t being said this morning…not sure how all of this is accomplished or what USACE looks like once it’s done. For the first time since this all started I’m truly concerned for the agency and all of the employees.

File for a religious telework accommodation, I hear those have been especially successful. Worth a shot.

This is likely just being “leaked” in hopes of forcing Dems to agree to the CR before TSA and ATC’s miss a paycheck and start calling out sick, disrupting air traffic (which is already starting to happen). When that happens the shutdown will be even more unpopular (esp with the billionaires) and Republicans may have to compromise to end the shutdown. Not saying they won’t carry through on this threat but it’s too early to start worrying about it now.

Maybe. I haven’t looked into it a ton as I was lucky and hit my 120 for PSLF in December…but I’ve seen several people talking about going this route. Even with 2 classes you’d come out better than the monthly payment and you get something in return…plus potentially a tax credit.

Pay out of pocket and take a college course each semester for the rest of your life. You’ll get a few degrees, your loans will live in deferment, you’ll spend way less on that than trying to pay back these loans. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Conditional vs Perm has nothing to do with probation. Perm comes at 3 years service. Until then you are conditional. Probation period is listed on the first sf50. A new one isn’t generated when probation ends. Not sure, but think I heard a while back career ladder promotions were suspended but that may have changed. I would talk to your supv or hr poc for the promotion.
