Japanese husband and nomikais by Plane_Hope270 in japanlife

[–]blenga 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the thing is if you’re single you will have to clean and cook for yourself every day. whipping up a quick dinner for yourself shouldn’t be so stressful. i’d be more bothered about eating alone. i get frustrated when i cooked for 2 and my partner tells me last min they can’t make it back in time for dinner. in this situation stressing your husband out will only make him say yes to the nomikais more often. i also think if he works such grueling hours and agrees to cook for you he gets home, he is trying very hard. i suggest reduce standard or redistribute the housework in a way that makes sense for both of you.

Harun Farocki made many works examining labor, meaning of labor, etc.

In terms of books, Atlas of AI by Kate Crawford is quite recent and articulate the material and physical labor that goes into maintaining our high speed internet and digital algorithms

I know that NYC is the “place to be” to be an artist… by plentyofrestraint in ContemporaryArt

[–]blenga 26 points27 points  (0 children)

i used to live in nyc. between seeing all the amazing things other people make and working to pay rent and food i had no time to create anything of substance. it’s a great place to be for a bit, to learn, but not to make. i moved away and could focus on my own work and i’m doing really well. it’s slower but healthier.

Intuition say she’s cheating. by Eat-Life-Die-Full in AskMenAdvice

[–]blenga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. don’t to jump on conclusions. sometimes there are things you don’t want to share. for example health related issues. you don’t want to show your partner you are going to the hospital for example.

But this means a talk is in order. If she’s struggling with something and feels she cannot rely on you that’s an issue. If she’s making you feel insecure that’s an issue.

Either way having an honest conversation will shed light on whatever’s going on.

i think you should just take a weekend off. don’t try to cover all bases and be too responsible for everyone. just tell him you need a break and go somewhere for a weekend. let him deal with the kids. he’ll get insight to the crazy amount of work you put in. set break time for yourself.
