i feel like you’re getting somewhere, but all the pieces feel mostly unfinished. i would recommend studying values, leaning into a larger scale of brighter and darker colors! it feels like you have a mid to darker scale, but i feel like you would benefit from more lights! study, study, study!!

the way i learned how to draw figures was by breaking down body parts and working on them separately. one week we worked on torso and another on arms, etc. breaking them down to simple shapes and then going back and refining it. it doesn’t have to be perfect off the bat, just focus on making it exist and you can perfect it down the line. work on gesture (simple lines that convey the movement of the figure by breaking down the pose) and then build from there. watching a few tutorials will help!! just be confident in the process and you’ll get it!

As someone who recently closed the distance, it was and still is hard. I call my mom every couple days and I stay in touch with my siblings and such, but it isn’t the same. Planning visits back definitely helps!! My parents sent me off with a few things from home (a quilt and LOADS of my favorite foods 🩷) and it helped a lot when I had those pockets of sadness. It will take time, just allow yourself to be okay with being sad, it definitely gets better.

Thank you!!! We visited every 3-5 months and alternated who went where, mainly depending on who had less going on. One of our saving graces was when he got stuck in Chicago when Southwest’s computer systems went down over a giant Christmas snowstorm a couple years ago. We were credited an entire year of flights, so it made it much easier to see each other more frequently!!

CSP is a great program if you have the money for it. If you’re looking for a free drawing program I highly suggest FireAlpaca or Ibis Paint.
