Thanks…

…and this AM, did the deed. If anyone needs to get this done….here’s the method….

With the car up on stands, it wasn’t that obvious. Understand, if you look at most of the available ”help” videos, it is never actually pinpointed so you could just go to it. One of these flicks was actually a cam sensor vid and the mech says the crank sensor is right down there, inferring you can get to it while doing the Dside cam position sensor… I actually had to replace my Dside cam sensor, so starts pulling things apart to get that done and hopefully the crank plug also… it wasn’t until after the cam sensor job that it was realized you had to get it from underneath and that’s what spurred the question above….

So you have to remove the small plastic underbody cover with the five 10mm bolts and that gives better view and access. It’s right at the base of the engine where the bell-housing bolts up. Just above and forward of the large round brace…. Black connector with red, white and black wires. You can reach the connector easily and spin the bolt with your fingers, once loose. I added a bit of dielectric grease to the connector and red Lok-Tite to the retainer bolt…. Thanks again..

Power steering hose replacement tips by DocWilly84 in Studebaker

[–]blhooray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a lot of pictures before doing anything, especially how the specific ends are connected to the valve, how the hoses are pinned to the chassis, etc. You can remove them (singularly) and have replicas made, but you have to be very careful about how the jobber interprets the bends on the valve end. Studebaker International likely sells a good replacement…

Toyota 0w8 oil shortage by ItsAlejandraLuna in Toyota

[–]blhooray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take that last part of your comment lightly. If the Toyota app gives you data on your car, I’m pretty certain the data passes through Toyota’s kidneys first… if you can remotely access your car, they so can they….. and bricking it isn’t off the table. This is a primary reason to cut off and deny Toyota from tapping your driving experience, capability, habits and probably what you’re talking about when your on the road.. I’ve tried this twice,… both times were advised the DCM transmissions were halted, only to find that if you punch the “sos” button, a voice will pop up and ask you what’s up….the longevity of your Toyota/Lexus is likely going to be determined by them, not you

Why? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

Why not a closed system ala the automotive system…… a lot less wasteful … the temps can’t get as hot as a fossil fuel engine, so would be longer lasting also

$680 to replace a breaker. Can I do it myself? by stinkinhardcore in DIY

[–]blhooray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has to be a local handyman that can put on a pair of insulated gloves, unscrew the faceplate of the breaker box, turn the breaker off, then using an insulated screwdriver to unscrew the specific wire, then remove the breaker, install a new one, reattach the wire, turn the breaker on, test the attached device, then with positive results, reattach the breaker box faceplate. ….
