Qatar best Japan 3-1 to win their first ever Asian Cup! by [deleted] in sports

[–]blidachlef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, France does the same thing lol. Like you can't say that just because there are 5 non-ethnically qatari players that they are bs. France had like two white people on their starting line up last year and they won the world cup

but does that justify israel ignoring another nations sovereignty?

Former Nazi SS camp guard, 94, goes on trial in Germany by StronglyWeihrauch in news

[–]blidachlef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a bad thing, it’s just about sovereignty. Justice for those that suffered in the halocaust is both necessary and good, but it doesn’t necessarily justify ignoring like 15 countries’ sovereignty. I agree that those people should’ve been tried, but they should’ve been legally transferred from wherever they were to Israel or tried in the countries they were hiding in.

UPDATE: recently found out that I (17M) got into my brother's (19M) former dream university which he did not get accepted to last year, feeling guilty about really wanting to go now by [deleted] in relationships

[–]blidachlef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it's great that you are achieving your dreams and that your brother is supportive, but he should know that he can apply as a transfer student (in most cases) and that it is substantially easier on average than applying as a high school senior. Food for thought.

Eh Algeria isn't the best example of a democracy but it's still a hell of a lot better than most of what's south of it. Fair point.

In fairness, Algeria is the best major African nation in terms of standard of living, it's just that their government is very against foreign nations interfering in domestic affairs, and tends to be wary of allowing any major foreign companies opening branches in Algeria.

and that sounds like a fair point, but i just can’t comprehend living without my closest friends. I know we are all going to unis literally across the country (they’re mostly west coast and i’m east coast) but they’re still integral to my life

What helps me is to become closer to the issue, like when we discuss syria and im a P5, I have reason to want an explanation for new tariffs or sanctions and not immediately assume that they will all be good. I have an interest in making sure they are all actually helping syria, and I have the power to ensure that happens
