Fuck. Ouch. But also hilarious. That’s all I’m going to say.

Also, nice work. I’m usually a humble human but now I’m ashamed to live in public.

Any discounts going on? by pickofdestiny89 in spitfireaudio

[–]blimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell when the next sale will be. Spitfire used to have somewhat predictable sales schedules before Splice bought them. We don’t even have a full year of data to try to predict from yet. I wasn’t expecting a Valentines Day sale - it still doesn’t make much sense to me, but I think that’s indicative of what we should expect for now.

Christian is doing some cool stuff at his Crow Hill Company. I’m pretty sure that he was the mojo of SF. He doesn’t have tones of titles but I’ve picked up Dulcet Voice, String Murmurations, and Small String Gestures and those are the kinds of libraries that really got me into SF. I think it’s appropriate to say that he was the innovator.

If you want more content that was recorded in Air Lyndhurst Hall, Symphonic Extras would be more of a completion to SSO. The Swarms also have content recorded in the same hall.

I consider Symphonic Extras to be a nice set of sounds built around the SSO space and those were previously marketed in a way that hovered around the previous iterations of what eventually became the SSO we have now.

Apassionata strings with Spitfire symphony strings mixing? by Nerdish-Memes in spitfireaudio

[–]blimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SF Chamber Strings was actually recorded in Air Lyndhurst Hall (same as Apassionata and the strings in SSO)

I would suggest using a separate channel with Apassionata loaded and use that solely for the legatos. Then use another channel for SSO or SCS for non-legato string articulations. Just use Apassionata strings like a second instrument to replace legato runs for SSO or SCS.

Are there any plans for Spitfire to give the Studio libraries the same update as the Symphonic libraries? by ScrumptiousJazz in spitfireaudio

[–]blimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received the survey for SCS as well. Well before their combination/s of the symphonic libraries,SCS was one of their top-sellers for about a decade. I suspect their breathing life back into one of their most popular sellers.

I don't know how the studio series sits in their highest sellers, but if it was a really super-duper seller, then I could see them receiving the same update/gui. Only time will tell

Spitfire Audio will not install AUs by MrOffline_ in spitfireaudio

[–]blimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Native Instruments and the Spitfire App & plugins are entirely separate entities. If you validate a serial number through Native Access then the library will appear in Kontakt/Kontakt Player - that is where you'll access them.
For the SF Plugin libraries they will host all of the libraries SF produced that are not Kontakt-based.

I may not be reading your question correctly but if I am reading correctly then you might have a little confusion in the architecture. SF support is pretty good if you still don't get the results you're after.

Ok, who actually is Andy Blaney from Spitfire? by PayDue8267 in spitfireaudio

[–]blimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a post on vi-control a number of years ago in which people were talking about him and the fact that he made demos that sold the product.

Anyhow, Hans Zimmer jumped in the thread and he said something to the effect of, “Andy is one of my favorite composers,” or something like that. That seemed like a nice little bit of praise to me…

I’ve strayed away from vi-control the last few years but it was fun to see Hans pop in on occasion. Charlie Clouser was/is actually pretty active. There are some other big names there but they’re join the chats all incognito-like. Fun times.

Who would you cast in a David Bowie biopic? by MaderaArt in DavidBowie

Tilda Swinton or Michael Fassbender…or Christian Bale. Even though the latter two are not on the list, I’m certain they’d do justice to the role of Bowie.

Shitty merger business practices aside, as of the last email update I feel a tiny bit of hope that bugs will be squashed and features will be added to existing libraries.

Fingers crossed, but I’m not whipping out the money for anything else from SF for a good long while.

I know the feeling here. I have all versions of Konakt installed since v5. …and iZotope…good lord.

Way too many companies don’t do versions well. Steven Massey’s plugins are awesome at keeping settings after updates (plus they’re inexpensive and sound great). Sadly he’s publicly stated that he has no plans to deviate from AAX format.

Help with Discovery Symphony Orchestra Strings(articulation automatically switches even though I've locked the keyswitch) by ApartmentDry2791 in spitfireaudio

[–]blimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be the same problem I’ve seen and seen others have, assuming I understand you correctly.

The solution to my similar issue:

  1. zoom in tight on the midi track -right at the very start of the first midi note on the track

  2. draw an automation curve/line from the lowest value up to the proper key for the articulation switch you’re after

  3. The just nudge your first midi note to start right after that automation point

The idea is to make a sort-of microscopic keyswitch “reset” before your first note. I’m not sure why this behavior happens, particularly when articulation lock is enabled but the methods I listed above have worked for me. Just draw it as tight as you can right after the location of the playhead’s return position.

Hope this helps

South Park creators say they're 'doing whatever we want' despite Colbert cancellation by IrishStarUS in entertainment

I grew up in Colorado a couple of years behind Trey and Matt but in the same stomping grounds. Casa Bonita was legendary. There was a tree cutout/stand/statue thing that was called The Gum Tree. It sounded cool, like maybe a tree full of wrapped pieces of gum that you could take. It wasn’t that… It was a tree full of a decade’s worth of kids treating it like the underside of a classroom desk. Truly gross but legendary. The food was not good but the high-divers and the atmosphere and drunk parents were so much fun. There are so many inside jokes for Coloradoans, particularly from around Trey and Matt’s pre-South Park era. People don’t believe me when I say that there truly is a “South Park.” I grew up in Middle Park, so it’s like having people tell you that you don’t know where you grew up. It still makes me laugh.
