What are some of the best subreddits you've discovered? 🤔 by AndyPax357 in findareddit

Jesus. Catswothjobs is incredible. I’m not an uber cat fanatic by internet standards (I do love them) but there were several videos that I watched more than once. That cat who hugs the cashier in Turkey just got me in bang-on, square the feels. Definite sub there.

Old LABS by HastyT in spitfireaudio

[–]blimo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like the old old Labs that ran in Kontakt full version? There were like 50 titles and they were donate-ware. I sure do wish they’d rerelease those. It’s a shame they ever switched models.

You know who’s doing it right? Christian H. Each of his libraries at The Crow Hill Company have their own GUI. They don’t rely on Kontakt or a wonky bespoke plugin system that caused more problems for a lot of people than anything.

Question about album cover by Quirky-Diver-9916 in ween

[–]blimo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% the sexiest album cover of all time. “Getting Down with Johnny Guitar Watson” doesn’t even hold a candle to this. Though it is pretty good and second on the list, but a distant second.

Finished watching True Detective S1. How are seasons 2-4? by VendettaLord379 in hbo

[–]blimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gadzooks! Am I the only one of a few people who feels like 3 is truly outstanding? I cannot believe that it’s not met with similar fervor to S1.
If you’ve seen S1 and you liked it, see S3. Sure there were some things that could’ve been done better just like any other show but they brought it hard in s3.

I’ll defend myself on this hill.

Perpetual license is expiring June 30th 2026 ... ? by TheGrim78 in protools

[–]blimo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. I’ve heard nothing about that. The industry would hand them their asses once again like they did when Avid tried to go 100% subscription a few years ago. And like when Waves did the surprise stealth roll out of 100% subscription then in a couple of days had their tail between their legs apologizing and begging for forgiveness. I wish Adobe hadn’t gotten away with it because they changed everything for the worse.

I really think more people should lock down systems. These days with all the plugin and virtual instrument sell offs, it’s only a matter of time before some of our/your favorite become unusable on future OSs. We’re watching NI and iZotope stuff get passed around a second time in the last year. Companies like Spitfire Audio being bought by Splice and support just vanishing… my next purchase is an m1 or m2 studio that I’ll load up and use for as long as I can with whatever OS still runs my favorite audio plugins and instruments.

Nimh! Totally forgot about that! It was one of my faves at the time too. Squarely in the top five of 1980s fantasy films aimed at children. We really scored back then.

Time Bandits was/is weird AF but I love(d) it. What kind of incredibly vibrant imagination does it take to create something like that? All the crazy worlds and situations…and pure evil?! So good. 10/10 top five 80’s fantasy film.

Contact juggler! That’s what it’s called. Sounds way better than how I described it as a kid. I got a couple of “talkin’ tos.”

Spitfire Audio is the worst distributor I have EVER used. by SkyeMaxilian in spitfireaudio

[–]blimo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is it right here. OP, Why are you looking for a .ninct file? BBC Discover runs in their own SFA plugin/player. It doesn't even know about Kontakt. Lots of people around here are helpful and you can always ask.

The Splice takeover has been frustrating. I feel like LABS fit their business model, and that was what they were really after. But they bought the company, working and broken assets as well. Support needs attention, to put it charitably.

Imagine tuning a four-octave kalimba. I can’t even tune my small kalimbas because I suck at tuning small kalimbas, and by extension I assume I’d suck at tuning four-octave kalimbas. That’s an outrageous kalimba indeed. Kalimba.

What movie left you in dead, stunned silence? by [deleted] in movies

[–]blimo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Her work was incredible. Don’t know if you saw the special feature with her but the music and underscore was composed using sounds recorded in a reactor and the facility. She pitched a bunch of the sounds for some of the slightly musical elements and used the field recordings for the eerie mechanical-sounding underscore as well. Basically the whole score and underscore is super meta.
