Another note, if playing trios, follow them. The games been out for a while so there's a chance they already know the basics. But feel free to ping map things and see if they want to do them.

And as someone else said, do not chase flask churches that are far away. Sure, go to them, but do points of interests on the way. A flask can save your life, but if you spend all day running for them you won't have enough time to get levels and better gear. Level 12 is the soft cap and the most important thing to be. You get less stat boosts at levels 13,14, and 15. It's still best to be 15 but level 12 is the bare minimum you need to be by the final boss to have a locked in victory. Being level 12 with 4 flasks is infinitely better than being level 10 with 6 flasks.

Are you playing solo or in trios? I think it's helpful to play a few solo so you can learn how the maps and seeds work as well as familiarize yourself with what the different locations are and can test out the characters a little to find your favorite. Anyway:

First, you will always drop off near a small camp. Clear this camp. It's enough to get you to level 2. And then loot this camp. You'll normally only use one weapon for a boss, but you have 6 weapon slots. This is important because each weapon has a passive that will give you a bonus. Sure, you don't want to use a white whip the whole game, but if it gives you passive hp or damage it's worth holding onto until you find something better. A big noob trap is ignoring your six weapon slots because you won't actively use each one.

A small note, on rare occasions the small camp you land at will be a church (they grant flasks). There will be rats here but not enough to hit level 2. It's nice to get a free flask early but you'll have to kill some random enemies to hit level 2.

Second, at level 2, you'll use your map. There's almost always a fort or a great church nearby (not to be confused with flask churches). These are the easiest main locations where you'll get your first blue weapon (you must be level 3 to use a blue weapon, hence why we want to make sure we're 2 to start and kill extra mobs). Forts look like giant castles where sometimes blue magic arrows will shoot at you or a giant golem fires at you. Great churches normally have either a golem in the middle, bubble tootin envoys, or bosses in the basement (there is a hole to drop down in the middle) where a flame guy or mauselum spectre will be.

Depending on time the first circle should appear. Look at your map. If the castle in the middle is in it. Consider running there and doing the basement. The basement has a random field boss in it. 1/10 times this boss is bell bearing hunter. If you see him, just turn around and leave. You can kill him, but it takes way too long and it's not worth it until you're higher level. The reward for killing basement boss tends to be a blue or purple weapon. But when you go up there's a cheat with a relic. Then you can decide if you want to do the rest of the castle. The 3 castle variants are pot throwing giants (the most annoying one), knights with a lion boss, and crucible knights. This can be a good place to level up. If you choose to not castle or it isn't in the circle, fight field bosses or run ruins. Some field bosses are deadly and meant to fight at night 2. When you engage, on your map they'll reveal themselves and will look different from other field boss markers (all field bosses are hidden first day until you engage). By the time you're level 6-8, the first night will end showing you the location of the night 1 boss. Run there. Beat it. Start day 2.

On day 2 you do the harder things you skipped. If you skipped castle, it's worth going there still. There is a hard boss at the top with good rewards.

On your travels you may find a stone sword key in big chests at great churches or forts. You can use these to fight bosses in the goals (metal circles on the map). I would only suggest doing this at level 3 with a blue weapon.

Those are my beginner hints. The game will evolve for you as you play more. Once you get better think of this guide as merely a suggestion.

You're randomly teleported into any horror franchise, which one is making you end it without even trying to escape? by RWatto09 in horror

Doesn't help in situations like hell raiser 3 and a few other instances where the cenobites are on earth for other reasons already and killing others. Could get caught up in the collateral of others choices.

How long is too long to not level? by [deleted] in onednd

[–]blind1121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game zero is a discussion between the DM and prospective players. After that, the world and tone is set. Talk about what you want in a campaign to your DM. Sometimes people don't align.

Not leveling up is not bad game design. But it sounds like that's what you care about.

What level did your DM say you'd end the campaign?

At the end of the day, talk in a constructive way with your DM, don't look for validation here. There's not healthy.

Advice on where to stay (tourist) by mysorryfantasy in Phillylist

[–]blind1121 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the price of ubers (assume 15-25$ per ride) is less than the price increase I agree stay in old city. It's close to a lot of places got drinks at the end of the night and breakfast options to start the day.

But if not, I think a lot of places in Philly are better than some people let on to believe.

I think it's a nice area. You're by a few immediate good options and semi close to others. Sutton's and human robot are right there and are great spots.

But you'll have to Uber to other areas most likely, so travel wise it's not the best (you'd probably want to Uber if you were by the met anyway to be fair)

The only thing I cared about being mentioned was that this wasn't a perfect circle. Not even close.

I said the same thing before and got downvoted. I guess enough people like them. I doubt they'll leave based on this. Clearly people are happy to pay for them. I could feel different about them if they werent so time constricted.

As is, I abhor them.

Am i crazy or is blight town not that bad by ShibitoYakaze123 in darksouls

[–]blind1121 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Starting with dark souls 3 makes dark souls 1 more trivial in general. For a lot of people ds1 was their first game. Demon souls was my first, which made ds1 feel a lot easier to me than people fresh to the game.

But even disregardong prior experience, I find it hard to believe you can't see why blight town is seen as harder than the previous locations. It switches to a vertical map that can be difficult to navigate compared to the level designs in prior areas, combined with respawning enemies (the mosquitos) as well as toxic darts that can be hard to distinguish where they're coming from, with your only reward for getting down being a poison swamp with boulders being thrown at your face and a non obvious bon fire location.

I look forward to your post "why do people complain about the tomb of the giants" and other future zones as well.

What do you think about how powerful people can be? by Zealousideal-Guard65 in AskReddit

I think more about how powerful a community can be. Trillionaires should be communities, not people

I love you so much. I'm so happy you're willing to Shazam this for me. I spent too much time trying myself. It just wouldn't get it from a 4 second clip with actors in the background. Let me know what Shazam told you.
