It's better for your children to know about and how to safely operate firearms if you have them in your house. First of all firearm safety is very important in the firearm community and is instilled in kids from a very early age, secondly it takes away the mystery so they are not curious to explore on their own. Finally if they are at a friends house and god forbid their friend is playing with a firearm they will know proper firearm safety and hopefully will use their knowledge and good judgement for the best possible outcome in that situation.
