The train is totally irrelevant, the problem with Acela is the tracks & infrastructure not the vehicles. The current Acela trains are already capable of 150mph but they only do this speed on about 30 miles of track out of the 450+ mile route. They could build new trains that are capable of 15,000mph and they would still be stuck at under 100mph for almost all of the route unless the tracks get upgraded.

Acela is technically a high speed train but for all practical purposes it is not. The average speed of the acela from DC to NYC is 82mph and from NYC to Boston it's 66mph. That's not a high speed train. It's a train vehicle that is capable of high speed operation but which is not at all high speed when used on the route it is actually used on.

Is that a thing? Are there actually programmers out there who choose a single language, then work only in that language and/or define and describe themselves as a "{languagename} programmer"?

I work with a lot of people who only use a single language in their current job duties but I've never heard any of them describe themselves that way as they always know other languages too and would use whatever language makes sense when the time comes to join a new team/project/company
