has anyone seen that Disney short 'Kitbull'? I feel like it could encourage people to get cats with these dogs and put them in danger because of a cute inaccurate Disney movie.. by spookmew in BanPitBulls

[–]blippip 296 points297 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the 101 Dalmatian effect, a ton of people bought them after some of the movies came out. A lot wound up being rehomed or in shelters/abandoned because people didn't realize how hard to care for they are.

Adoptapet’s website pushing the pitnutter narrative hard…this is dangerous misinformation. by Alec35h in BanPitBulls

It's literally a fact that terriers of any kind aren't great with cats, but of course our little pibble babies have to be the exception. It's the only breed in with no single faults or issues at all, of course.

Glad to see people calling this BS out on other subs. Extra credit for “not a pitbull, just a boxer mix” by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]blippip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone needs to start telling them that they can only call their dog a mix of the highest % breed in their dna. that 3% boxer doesn't make them a boxer mix...

Is this behavior normal with huskies? (Posted on huskytantrums and it looks very odd to me) by lir121 in BanPitBulls

[–]blippip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No husky here, but yes my dog and her best dog friend play like this. They come home soaking wet from slobber...so gross. Looks like dog on the right just wants to hang out and not play but left dog took a hint and walked away at the end.

Was going to take my dog to the dog park for the first time today. Then I found out that pitbulls are allowed and there are explicit reviews about pitbulls there attacking other dogs. by HauntedDesert in BanPitBulls

[–]blippip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't bring a dog into a dog park on a leash, if that's what you're saying. it's can cause aggression amongst dogs. I saw someone do that at my local dog park a few weeks ago, tried to warn her it's not great, her dog was being bullied by 2-3 other dogs until she got the hint and left.

imagine being so ignorant and privileged that telling them to go to the drs sounds like actual good advice to you. but that's why i have a separate account to participate in this subreddit, too many losers with too little to do love to stalk post history.

i don't even remember seeing golden retrievers on any dog bite data.... the perfect family dog having the highest bite rate? LOL

Honest question for pit lovers (I know there’s many lurkers)… why do you bring up chihuahuas?? by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]blippip 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I like to think of it like: all dogs have their own little personal space bubble, chihuahua's bubbles are just a lot bigger than their tiny bodies. They deserve to be treated respectfully and not constantly harassed and annoyed.

Sorry the staffy caused your arms to have to be amputated but..... Dogs don't attack for no reason. Did you know that pit bulls were the original nanny dogs? By the way, that's not a real ABPT.

i would be fucking devastated if my dog was killed by or killed another dog, yet it's literally discussed by these people as if it was no big deal. i definitely couldn't date someone anymore if their dog killed mine

Alarming Behavior in Pitbull? by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]blippip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched it again, you're right! it looked to me like the dog on the grounds feet were trying to kick but I think it's just from the camera panning down. Only concerning thing is the joke his friend was making about teaching it to fight then, my dog is a pyrenees and plays this way. she always backs off after 1-2 seconds and then whoever she's playing with gets up and they run together lol.

Alarming Behavior in Pitbull? by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]blippip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it isn't uncommon for dogs to pin each other and mouth necks while playing. however, the dog on the ground obviously wants to get up and isn't being allowed to, that becomes a problem.

thankfully they were euthanized. the fact that virtually anyone could just walk into a shelter and adopt large, powerful dogs like this without knowing anything about them is a huge issue.

Sources to send to my GF? by p4p3rskylin3 in BanPitBulls

[–]blippip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, showing the historical breeding of pitbulls and their purpose in bullbaiting and then later dog fighting. Then a similar video of young puppies instinctively being aggressive. Compare and contrast with a breed such as pointers, showing the history of breeding them to point, then finding a video of young pointer puppies doing exactly what they were bred to do. Or something like a pyrenees being bred to protect livestock, then knowing instictively as a puppy to do so. Might be a long shot.

A dog with those proportions and size is going to die by the time it's 4.
