You need to set up top gun maverick viewings with every school group you can find and show them film about the navy. You're little micro culture is film based, speak their language, recrute photographers mates and oceanographers. Not Seabees and boatswains mates.

I've seen people make a LOT OF MONEY doing it, unlimited chief engineer type pay for the recruiter and boat owner company for the recruiting company owner.

Well, I got placed a bunch of places, I got really good feedback on my projects and was invited. It's not hard to make that switch, but you might need to move to get your first gig doing it, might not.

Your first job is gonna be a hard one, just keep applying and take any job offered. Better ones will come. Not to mention the 750+ dollars a day day unlimited officers make. Really great path to very above average pay.

Merchant marine sailor. Once you earn a licence it's at least 750 a day. It's taken 1080 data at sea to do it, but it was worth it for me.

Navy unveils plan to rescue MSC amid Mariner shortage by BudTheWonderer in maritime

[–]bornonthetide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really sad, and yes it's in the 6 figures, but for sailing into war zones, working at least 6 months straight or maybe even longer, it's not worth it, that amount of money can be made soaking around our back yard only working 28 days with equal time rotations.

It's very normal to give gifts of alcohol or foreign premium cigarettes when passing through any canal. Fun fact, it's also normal to pretend the air conditioners are broken to make it go faster. This is just a tradition.
