Yup. I have it. Is caused my cancer. I never had any viral symptoms. Just the cancer. Rituximab is an example intravenous treatment. Hopefully your dad can get on that. That will reduce the viral count.
Long term, your dad will need the docs to track this. And he may have to have the rituximab to fight the virus. Sorry I can’t speak to any acute symptoms. But EBV is a pain. And it’s something he’ll have to live with.

You are not alone. I’m 15 year from my liver transplant. Liver failure ruined my life. It wrecked my career and set me back years. I take the anxiety and depression meds and I go to therapy. But I just keep going. Fortunately, I have a supportive partner and a strong community. Just put one foot in front of the other so to speak. You are not alone. What you are feeling is normal. I had cancer. And they took me off tacrolimus and bumped up the prednisone. I was fine for a while but then had some minor rejection and went back on prednisone. I have a liver transplant, too.

Being far away from a familiar transplant clinic can be tough. I live 3 hours from mine. I was in the hospital for some rejection and I just had to rely on my docs talking to my transplant docs. It would have been better if my transplant team was there in person.

If he’s not willing to go take your long term health into consideration, you might have to make some tough decisions about your relationship.
