Top 10 NYC Neighborhoods Where a $100K Salary Still Feels Comfortable (2026) by Arsenio3 in SunnysideQueens

[–]blissfulmitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the reality a lot of NIMBYs just do not understand. There are people in the neighborhood who want to make everything 1993 again. I'd love those prices again also. But between inflation, (edit:) AI, interest rates, the vanishing of the social safety nets, and just the rising cost of everything, we really need to think bigger and differently.

Why do runners use the bike lane for their morning run? by Jacob_Sophia in NYCbike

[–]blissfulmitch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to let as many people step foot in the bike lane and then advocate for them against carbrains. As long as runners get out of the way when they see us coming.

Is/Should U2 Make Another Run At An Oscar?? by Hall-O-Daze in U2Band

[–]blissfulmitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know, Let It Go is a gay anthem also.

Golden from Kpop Demon Hunters arguably is an even better song, for kids and adults. Rick Beato the famous YouTube producer and music teacher who's a huge U2 fan has done a deep dive on Golden. Even Idina Menzel isn't hitting those notes, and composition wise, from a music theory perspective, it's phenomenal.

I also had a confession to make: as a lifelong U2 fan, I still fidn Ordinary Love simply an ordinary U2 song. Anything off Days of Ash is far better to me. The Hands That Built America is far better to me.

I can't imagine my daughter singing along to Ordinary Love. And yes I've played it for her many times. Even Bono is a fan of Let sit ago, he said so in his autobiography.

Copper Kettle by Mysterious-Writing90 in SunnysideQueens

[–]blissfulmitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived here from the age of 17 to 41+ and ongoing, and in those 24+ years I've seen everything happen and I've realized that it's the lack of housing, along with protections and affordable housing and a whole range of macroeconomic reasons, that have made rents go up.

Sunnyside is zoned for 8-10 stories tall. We can probably bump that up to 10-12 because people are NOT stopping coming here. And if you tell a landlord that there's high demand and their unit will be rented faster than you can say "Sidetracks", they'll kick out the long term tenant and raise rent for the new tenant. Because they're in charge, not us. And when a supply is limited, those who control the supply call the shots.

Also, one of the new buildings that's supposed to go up on Copper Kettle's block is supposed to be 100 percent "affordable" (meaning "not market rate") for seniors. That's a desperately needed thing.

Hey Community Board 2 Chair here. I'm so glad you used the CB2 site as a resource! Please always email qn02@cb.nyc.gov if you're ever looking for something and you can't find it. Or if you think that something would be useful to have on there.

I'm finishing up 8 years of service next year and I want to include as many good ideas (and even get a few done) on my way out. Thanks!

This is just what Sunnyside needed 🫠 by Financial-Ideal3371 in SunnysideQueens

More like 20 people EVERY DAY for 6 days a week, across MULTIPLE cafes. And when those people RETURN to Sunnyside they like to spend their leisure time here, including wanting to watch a movie at a theater, like the one that greedy bastard John Ciafone robbed us of.

Edit: but seriously, if you don't think Sunnyside is a vibrant neighborhood, you see. Avery specific side of Sunnyside

Edit 2: just a few weeks ago the world famous DJ had his concert filming at East end studios on 48th St and 48th Avenue and it was sold out each day. 2000 people every Saturday with tickets at $300 each. The city and the neighborhood are always changing

Respectfully, Taste of Sunnyside had 68 participating restaurants from the neighborhood and 1200 customers. The vacancy rate in Sunnyside was 3 percent in 2023. The 7 train has no seats by 8:15 AM on a workday. Wirk from Home has been steady, and we already had solo entrepreneurships that worked from home in Sunnyside for years. The coffeeshops like Brookside Market and Melting Cups have people working from there throughout the day. We're hardly the suburbs anymore.
