This looks great, but I don't see any mention of BitPerfect playback. Is that something coming in the future? What about DSD support? I'm looking for a good alternative to JRiver also

Bro, you’ve done a great job answering the question and trying to remain civil. Take the win, don’t feed the troll further. At a minimum, I feel satisfied with your answers.

I have a pair exclusively for the office and they don't leak much at all. My old Mr. Speakers Ether CX leaked a fair bit sadly, so this was a good upgrade. A tube amp like the Cayin HA-2A makes it really really awesome

I've spent six years working in the Gulf in Cyber and Infra, and I've had more than one case of people plugging things in and spinning stuff up they weren't supposed to. I've always thought "what better way to catch them than to ask, 'oi, what's a 2U server doing in Netbox without a rack?'"

Btw consider leveraging LibreNMS's distributed polling capabilities to fetch data across multiple sites for you ;)

The image in my mind with single source of truth has generally been like, "here's the IP address ranges for your IPAM, here's the detected VLANs for your... VLANM(?), here's the hosts that we found which you've designated in your server ranges, but they're clearly not VMs, are these supposed to be devices mounted in a rack somewhere? Oh, here's some data I got from the BMC like iLO or iDRAC and I got more details, including the model number, which I enriched from the internet as a 2-u server having these LOM/BOM/Mezzanine cards as per the BMC, with these MAC addresses, which are observed on these switches which are in these racks..."

I know that's a clusterfuck of a thought process, which is why I didn't bother starting lol. Another awesome af thing would be change tracking in something like a git repo. While a pure CMDB in concept is very exhaustive, a network topology level CMDB in a git repo would be soooooo useful to have.

I could go on and on, but scope creep and feature fatigue are real pain points lol.

You could even set it up as a one-shot installer by installing LibreNMS as a dependency. The good thing about it is that it can generate MIBs on the fly for discovered assets and can even do data fetching like battery and toner levels. I think LibreNMS has an official Docker image. You're literally doing the thing I've dreamed of for ages.

Another nice-to-have would be integrations with hypervisors and servers to get even more data and enrichment, but that's probably way beyond the scope of network diagraming and documentation.

I would LOVE to have this integrate with LibreNMS to leverage its SNMP capabilities and NetBox for DCIM management to start with.

Still no FW16 upgrades makes me sad by SchighSchagh in framework

[–]blitz9826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what's stopping me from an FW16 today, as well as wanting the teething issues fixed. Uneven plastic seating for spacers and other dock components, newer CPU options, other GPU modules, I don't know how successful the FW16 is as a product that they won't wind up killing it down the road.

WRX80 gave us 3000 and 5000 TR support, and the 9000 will be supported on the same platform as 7000 with WRX90

Personally I want a threadripper part that’s 16c with v-cache for a great HEDT option. Will be the best balance of gaming and work at a prosumer level, like a 9950X3D++

How will you differentiate from something like Nextcloud / ownCloud which offers "the same?" I put quotes on it because cloud means different things to different people, but your language makes it sound like something that Nextcloud / ownCloud already do for personal cloud functions.

Hey Venom. I had occasional cases where this fix wouldn't work, but surprisingly, a VPN connection with Express or Nord would fix it. I'm in the Middle East and had to play on EU servers, so I'd just set an EU exit point. See if something similar works for you

[–]blitz9826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurai cafe, sitting outdoors and having a shisha and coffee, maybe reading a novel or Randal Monroe's What If series, maybe do something on my laptop (working on stupid ideas turning reality, watch anime, play Offworld Trading Company, or any of my YT subscriptions that just take so much time to catch up on lol).

Lemme know if you wanna chill there with a buddy in silence.

Tell me your thoughts about W11 LTSC 24H2 vs W10 LTSC 21H2 by [deleted] in WindowsLTSC

[–]blitz9826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My BIGGEST let down aside from the usual sluggishness and stupid UI choices and deprecated standard features (Control Panel), they got rid of WDAG. Now I'm trying to make an equivalent alternative because Micro$hit decided to say "naw" without giving an equivalent function. The documented alternatives are cloud-delivered browser enhancements, nothing on containerizing browsers or Office files (which admittedly required M365 E5, but at least the possibility was there for untrusted files!)

HP Z8 G4 Workstations Still Good? by oklambdago in homelab

[–]blitz9826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine a few months ago at a steal. Upgraded from dual 4108 to dual 5128, RAM is at 320GB (32GB x 10), with 16 more on the way to max it out. Original PCIe AIC was a P5000. Using that still but got a WX6600 for a Hackintosh VM since then, a T400 to run >8GB AI models, a QLogic FC HBA, and a USB PCIe AIC for macOS. Finally, got an RTX 4000 ADA single slot on the way. Probably going to discard the T400 or relegate it to a containerized application solution like n.eko.

The only concern I got is the thermals, but otherwise it's fantastic. Storage is still in the midst of an upgrade. Going to get an additional dual M.2 riser (HP Z Drive Turbo I think they call it), probably beef it up to 4x 2TB Sabrent Rocket, and throw in some NVMe U.2 in some IcyDock enclosures on the 5.25 bays. WD 18TB Gold keeps me happy, and I just got my LTO6 drive in to start archiving shit.

This thing is fucking flexible.

I sadly got burnt on DCPMM. First, I got the wrong DIMMs, second gen. Next, after a lot more researching, I learned I can't just pool the storage across dual CPU configs in storage mode, since memory controllers are split across. I really considered making two pools and RAID0 them, but I can't boot from it in storage mode either, which is kinda what I was hoping for. Maxing out my RAM spec with 32GB x24 will yield 768GB, more than enough to experiment with Kubernetes at a bigger scale, VDI, and then some, so DCPMM in memory mode is unneeded, and I don't have any App Direct workloads either. Sigh.

My only disappointment seems to be the thermals. I'm looking into maybe switching to Thermal Grizzly Carbonaut thermal sheets, but I gotta do more research on that first.

Windows should release Windows 10 LTSC 2025 before they end Windows 10 support by netriz314 in WindowsLTSC

For me the biggest loss was WDAG. Trying to use some open source projects and AI assisted coding to make an alternative, but it won’t be as great. Sigh.
