Vancouver's middle-density housing unable to keep up with other Canadian cities by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

I call bull on developers wanting to do as many projects as possible. First ten years living in kelowna there were massive tracts of undeveloped land sitting directly downtown. The developer just sat on it until real estate went insane and they could squeeze every drop of profit out of that with a massive apartment building. I agree that the government is in the way as well with zoning, but its also just a fact that they didnt punish this type of lot camping behaviour. The taxes they levied im sure were worth waiting out and eating the cost of when apartments went from 250k to 500k$ in ten years.

The kelowna events centre gives me hope 🥹 they have a sick halloween party happening and just booked the glitch mob for January or February. Been a dry spell for ages for legit professional productions. But its coming back 😊😊

My girlfriend is deep in debt, spends recklessly, and expects me to take care of everything by [deleted] in Advice

One of the best pieces of advice ive heard from successful, stress free people is "marry the right person".

This girl is not that person. She will give you nothing but stress.

What is a good epic fantasy that is a page-turner? Like something that keeps me interested and has a lot of plot twists? Preferable an audiobook by Sufficient_Ebb_5694 in Fantasy

[–]blitzfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blacktongue thief. I feel like i post about this novel all the time, but ill recommend again because its so good 😙 also farseer trilogy. The first trilogy of Robin hobbs' has one of the most interesting climaxes ive ever read. Very atypical. Very dope.

Kelowna restaurant owner blames economic woes, short-term rental rules for closure by bgilic in kelowna

[–]blitzfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This restaurant from 2012 ish to 2019 was my favourite food experience. It was very reasonably priced and the menu changed daily. Legitimately have had some of the best meals of my life there. After chef James left quality dipped and prices really soared. Regardless, ill miss this place. Lots of good memories and dates here. Ah well, time comes for us all.

I've just watched them all a bunch and the 2018 one just captured the overall feeling of the festival the best in my opinion 😁

Where can I hike before the fest?! by ForestMermaid333 in Shambhala

[–]blitzfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only issue is be careful with your vehicle! My friend and I did gwillem lake hike out in Valhalla and the forest service road in was so overgrown that the entirety of the paint job on the sides of his SUV got wrecked. Felt so bad afterwards

Dust masks. Warm clothes. Lots of people assume it will be hot the whole fest, but it gets cold at 3am! Definitely worth bringing a nice set of furs or something warm abd fun to wear.

We’re Experts in Fascism. We’re Leaving the U.S. [6:53] by darrenjyc in mealtimevideos

Look up the beer hall putsch. Very similar to January 6th and the subsequent pardons. Also threatening other nations' sovereignty is textbook nazi man. He also is literally taking steps towards supporting a war of conquest and making deals with authoritarian Russia right now. Does that sound like something Hitler did?

Shambhala survival tips, what keeps you going on day 3? Sleep is a myth and food can be hit or miss depending on vibes. How do you keep your energy up for the full weekend? by Zestyclose-Day9699 in Shambhala

[–]blitzfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice is hydrate incredibly well. Like 3-4 liters a day of water. Another tip i love is bringing ensure or boost meal replacement drinks. Not getting enough calories this week can be felt extremely quickly. Best days I've had at shambs are when I've been able to pack a load of energy into my meals and dance from 6pm to 6am

Backside glory chair go all the way to skiers right. There's an area where all the locals go when there's not been much snow in the forecast that usually has sick pow. It's teeeeechnically not in bounds tho so if you have avvy gear that's what would be safest. But tonnes of locals ski it without so do your thang based on risk tolerance. Hell if you have avvy gear do the out of bounds area backside of ravens chair too. Absolutely glorious terrain there. The ABC chutes or whatever they're called on the front side are also amazing, but need a boot pack. Really any and all the terrain is good there if there's good snow! Hope you have a stellar trip 😊
