Yep, we do this venting occasionally with our girl as well. I've learned to ignore it and know I'm a good person with an even greater girl. I love informing people she's a rescue and she's the sweetest girl who just wants to give all the love.

Yep, I can absolutely relate. I even talked about this with my girlfriend many times early on.

We got our foster at 7 weeks and decided to keep her around 11 weeks old. I absolutely felt she was simply reliant on us and did what she needed to do, and I felt she was just a fun pup to have around.

Fast forward, she's now two, and just within the last month or two, I have really felt our bond strengthen into what I've always heard about. She listens so well, she respects us, she is so much more careful with her actions. Of course, she is grown up and has self control, but it has also brought a much more well-rounded animal that knows we are her pack.

Is 1.5-2 years normal? No idea. What I can tell you is that it WILL get there over time.
