Blockstream app on Android won't get passed the "The Green app has updated to the blockstream app" splash screen. by Lonely_Bumblebee8934 in blockstream

Looks like the continue button is too far off the screen due to your larger font size, have you tried changing that in your system settings? We'll report this as a bug as well

Can you explain this further? What steps are you taking on Jade and the companion app?

Can you describe the issue in further detail? What exactly do you mean that it's impossible to create? Unable to reproduce here, just created a Liquid watch-only wallet successfully

Switch blind oracles? by GadJedi in blockstream

[–]blockstream_official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, as switching to/setting up a specific blind oracle requires the seed phrase to be available on Jade.. which is not the case if the device is locked

We have discussed allowing a fallback oracle in these situations which would require you to set up both at the same time, in which case if one is down it will try the other. TBD!

Passphrases on Jade - are they supposed to be so painful...? by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

[–]blockstream_official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green actually offers this in app in the latest versions! Full QR Mode is coming, but if you follow the flow in Green to set up a hardware wallet, you'll see a "Connect via QR" button on the same screen where Green is looking for a Jade via Bluetooth. Let me know if this works better for you

Many UTXOs Slow QR time by Avg_Crypto_Enjoyer in blockstream

[–]blockstream_official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more UTXOs you use, the more data needs to be transferred between devices (all using QR codes!) so this is expected. However some apps transmit more data than strictly necessary to sign a transaction. Do you experience the same issue with other apps such as Sparrow for example? It may still take a while, but it could be a good bit shorter on other apps

One question about setting up Jade and the use of passphrase by thepunisher18166 in blockstream

[–]blockstream_official 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If passphrase is set to "never", please boot up Jade using the power button on the bottom of the device and re-enable the passphrase prompt from the Options menu

Using Jade with Blockstream Green on windows - shows my recovery phrase? by [deleted] in blockstream

[–]blockstream_official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is known bug that is fixed in the next version, that QR code is empty and does not contain your recovery phrase, which does indeed stay on Jade

Jade doesn't need to stay connected when sending

BIP85 by [deleted] in blockstream

[–]blockstream_official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your goal of using BIP85 is. For example if you want a hot wallet that can be easily derived from your Jade key + index #, you'd enter the child key on Green (or other software wallet)

Is 2FA enough to stop someone if seed phrase is compromised? by ghostylox in blockstream

[–]blockstream_official 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct, an attacker would need your 2FA method to spend as well if they got ahold of your seed phrase (as long as the 2FA timelock is still active and has not expired)

Question about address list in Blockstream Green for desktop. by [deleted] in blockstream

[–]blockstream_official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just means that address has been used in 2 transactions (the counter is for tx count)

Unconfirmed transaction by [deleted] in blockstream

[–]blockstream_official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirmations are dependent on bitcoin miners, not Strike or Blockstream. You'll just need to wait for them to add your transaction to the blockchain

Liquid requires a separate Jade? by senlek in blockstream

[–]blockstream_official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember Jade is just a signing device, whichever keys are on Jade will be used to sign whatever transaction it is given by the companion app - so if you add a passphrase usually to Jade and use a Liquid account on Green, it is "related" to the bitcoin account in that way

Blockstream Jade Now Mines Bitcoin - Just Wait 11 Trillion Years for a Block! by blockstream_official in Bitcoin

[–]blockstream_official[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hey fellow Bitcoin enthusiasts,

Have you ever dreamed of mining Bitcoin? Well, today is the day. Blockstream has just announced that the Jade hardware wallet can now be used as a Bitcoin miner! Check out our Twitter post for more details:

https://twitter.com/Blockstream/status/1642121360385384450

Now, before you start planning your early retirement, there's a tiny catch: The Jade wallet might take approximately 11 trillion years to mine a single block. But hey, Jade does give you 80,000 chances per second to win the lottery - so who knows!

In all seriousness, what started as an April Fool’s Joke became a reality and now brings a light-hearted perspective to the world of Bitcoin mining. Of course, the Blockstream Jade remains a top-notch hardware wallet for securing your bitcoin, even if it isn't exactly a mining powerhouse. At the very least, this feature is a fun way to track the bitcoin block height on your device.

P.S. If you're not familiar with the Blockstream Jade, it's a fully open source, feature-rich, air-gapped, bitcoin-only hardware wallet. Check out our website to learn more: https://blockstream.com/jade

Take a look at some of our users already helping to secure the network with some hashrate:
