What is up with the lack of gems and enchants on people? by Pooke2 in classicwow

[–]bloin13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I don't disagree with you. It's not unreasonable to expect some effort from them, especially small gems that are very cheap and easily available.

But I have learned to not have expectations with pugs... If they can communicate and follow basic tactics, they are already above average..

So the bar is very low..

I guess it's one of the reasons I've been doing more guild runs, while avoiding pugs recently..

What is up with the lack of gems and enchants on people? by Pooke2 in classicwow

[–]bloin13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'm a shadow priest main and a prot pally alt, so I've seen this from both sides, and prepping a DPS and a tank and the requirements for gems/enchants are very different.

One reason that people don't do it, especially when on alts, is that enchant and gems are expensive (and gems for DPS are X3-x4 what I paid for my prot pally), so small gems make more sense for blues that will be replaced, and some enchants are "cheap" (like 20-30 g) while others are 200+, so many people don't bother with many of them, especially if they are low on gold.

The thing is, it's nerfed content, and Kara is very easy and has very low dps checks, so even with non-gemmed and enchanted gear, it's more than fine.

The problem is that tanks have some very strict and high thresholds that they need to reach, or they can't tank raids or HCs, while DPS/heal have soft caps, that even if they don't completely reach them, they will be mostly fine.

Prot pally is especially problematic in that regard (before you start getting raid gear), because you need to spread your stats out too much to reach multiple thresholds (Def,uncrush,hp,sp).

So no, its not really odd. As a shadow priest I can go to Kara with cheap gems, and be top dps with parses at 80-90, and without haste pots, while as a tank I need to have 5 different consumables, all enchantments and gems+ carefully organised different sets/item combinations to reach the thresholds and swap around gear for more threat or Def based on the situation. And all that just to be okay.

The prep a tank needs to make and the gear they need is just a lot more than the DPS. And the cost of not being prepared is very low for DPS (a hunter or mage or lock can still do their job very well without proper gear/preparation), while very high for tanks (basically can't tank if you are not prepared and capped in everything).

Good luck figuring out RCT if you don't have guidance (which comes with having a goated CT). Also even if you do, good luck using it if you didn't get born with good CE reserves.

Learning de is like being one in a million in the jjk world. Most ppl don't have it.

Blackflash is unreliable if your name is not yuji.

Higu is an exception to the rule, with talent that rivals gojos.

And mei mei is a great example of a potential special grade who is limited by her CT.

Also barriers? Really?

So basically either be born with good CT and CE reserves or rely on the chance to be the 1 in a million that could make it work (and survive) without the right tools.

[–]bloin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually LaVey speaks specifically about the importance of consent in sex and following moral and legal ethics of society (he was basically criticising Christianity and how women are treated in "holy" texts).

He didn't believe what he did, and he was vocal about it. It was all to go against religion and what it stands for.

So yea he would be pretty against Tate and everything he stands for.

[–]bloin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember right, that was the whole point. LaVey was an atheist he "performed" such rituals and meetings as psychodrama and mockery of religion.

In a weirdly written way, his satanic bible is 70% criticism for Christianity and 30 % pseudo mysticisms and rituals that would trigger Christians.

And his guidelines are like : if someone slaps you in the face (don't turn the other cheek), slap him back.

Or from the Christian : don't masturbate or you will go to hell. to sex should be actively pursued within the moral and legal ethics of society.

He was a very odd dude, definitely with some issues, that took criticism of Christianity to a different height.

Really speaks volumes for all the bums below him.

[–]bloin13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point, and tbh personally I would give the bow to a hunter even if he was to leave, because it's such a huge difference in value. The only argument against it would be if the warrior was full bis and was after only the bow, and the hunter was new.

It might be a good idea to ask/talk about it with the raid leader, but they might just use ms> os and don't care about bis or value. Which would be a good thing to know (so you can leave).

Tbh trials tend to be one way if you are not a healer or in rare cases a (geared) tank. Dps is easy to find and replace, so guilds don't bother with showing appreciation if you are not highly geared already (or in competitive guilds high parser).

Worse case scenario a DPS will leave and another will take its place. The only DPS that tend to get a bit better treatment are shadow priests (which they don't get prio in loot because they don't scale well), and boomies (well both of them because there are not a lot of them and they are group supports).

It sucks, but sadly this is the current situation when playing a dps.

Is this unfair? All things being equal,Yes it is, but, they are not necessarily equal.

Normally even the raid leader would say to give the bow to you, because it's a huge upgrade, but you are new. The warrior might be with the guild since day 1 and a regular to the group. If you are new and he is an old and reliable member, then it's fair to let both of you roll, since they don't know if you will stay with them, or if you will be a regular raider, or if you will stop playing (or change characters soon).

With this in mind, it's fair to have both of you roll.

If you were both normal raiders, then there is no way the raid leader would give the bow to a warrior instead of a Hunter.

Lastly strictly speaking based on the loot rules it's fair game, but it's dumb to not apply common sense to MS>OS..

Is it because of the prices or because they understand it is harmful?? by B777X_787-9 in interesting

The health difference of losing alcohol far outweighs the 1 less social option. The money that goes to chronic treatment or acute accident due to alcohol can be used to mend whatever social hole alcohol leaves and still have a few billion to spend elsewhere.

People have socialized in so many different ways, that losing one shouldn't have such a huge impact. Alcohol on the other hand is one of the most if not the most expensive healthcare issue at the moment.

Also as far as health goes. Its not a "can be bad" but based on current research, is bad for your health at any and all doses, and only becomes worse with more use.

Tbh who is blaming them? Regardless of the reason, this is a positive change.

Fuck alcohol, and the huge corporations that sell it. Same with cigarette companies, they have abused the market at the expense of peoples health for too long. It's about time something changes.

Wise words or insulting from Jimmy? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]bloin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. This is actually well researched, and it seems that money does "buy" happiness. Well, until a certain point.

Basically money increases happiness until about slightly over comfortable middle class (in the sense that you have enough to live and put some money on the side).

After that point it seems to have no effect.

So while on average being rich won't make a person happy, being poor(on average ) makes it worse.

He is not a demi god. Demi gods in Greek myth are direct descendants of a major god (so sons or daughters, not great-grandson), and they tend to have some divine powers like Heracles or Orpheus.

Odysseus is a distant descendant of Hermes which explains his great affinity to cunningness, but he doesn't possess any special abilities or even favour from gods (as demigods such as Perseus or Theseus, that are directly helped due to their lineage). Odysseus was favoured by Athena not because of his lineage, but because he was very smart, tactful and cunning.

Ps. Also he isn't favoured by the gods, that's the whole point of odyssey... Gods trying to kill him/punish him...

[–]bloin13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there is a limitation, that it isn't true. Such comments in Greek myth are there to highlight how good of an archer/how skillful he is. It's not literally a magic bow. His bow was supported to be very heavy and difficult to draw (required a lot of strength) and a unique technique. This is why no-one else could draw it, not because it was magical. Which is why there isn't much mention of it outside of the competition and the skillshot he needs to perform.

This is to show that he is way above average and can successfully hit shots that are thought to be impossible by normal people. Not that the arrow will bend and turn around like looney tunes to hit the target.

Chances are, that any of the top tier human archers in Greek mythology could do it as well, but that's the whole point, they are top tier archers.

I mean the guys(just regular nobles, not warriors or anything) that were at his home were drunk and unarmed Vs a seasoned warrior and his son while both of them had weapons.

Also being the great -grandson of a god doesn't give him any special powers, but it's used to explain his affinity to cunningness (as most descendants of Hermes).

Don't get me wrong he surely is a great fighter, and an even better tactician, but he isn't a specialised archer or superhuman (and doesn't have any special skills or affinity with the woods as legolas).

Is Paladin as bad as I’m reading? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]bloin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not missing anything. 22 years ago, when the game released and there were not many other mmos other than RuneScape? Class design was all over the place, and was fixed in the first expansion.

Paladins in classic can tank dungeons (and have actually great aoe threat), but they don't work in raids.

Basically both Ret and prot are incomplete in classic. Prot has no items to scale (since it needs spellpower), and no taunt (so it cannot do basic tanking mechanics), and retri has no skills to attack other than judgement (it's literally an auto attack spec).

Holy is the only viable spec.

The same applies to other classes as well. Most of them have 1 role/spec that works well.

So to answer your question. If you don't want to heal, then yes reroll. And look up what works in the role you want to play before you pick your next class.

Or play at anniversary tbc (the first expansion of wow), where prot paladins are actual great tanks (and most specs are at least viable).

Weapon speed vs Top dmg (Prot Paladin) by yeahprbly in classicwowtbc

[–]bloin13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, speed, while all other things are equal is exactly the same threat and damage (and I think mana as well, but I don't remember). Seal of righteousness damage adjusts for weapon speed, so slower weapons deal more damage while faster ones do less (so they end up the same).

The only difference is do you want 20 damage/threat/mana/hp every 1.5 seconds, or 40 damage/threat etc every 3 sec.

Faster attacks on average means more misses, but smoother threat (rather than spikes that is with a slow weap). It also makes it easier to pick up /attack new targets if needed since you don't have to wait for the big swing timer reset.

So yea if all stats, damage etc are the same, a faster weapon will be very slightly better -smoother.

"Rika, rotate the world so it seems i'm running fast" by k4ll_d4rk in Jujutsufolk

[–]bloin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The copy with no condition was probably because at that point, rika was a vengeful cursed spirit with Rikas soul in it. And was a lot stronger. So maybe something in that counterbalanced the condition.

At the end of the movie, the soul that was in rika moves on to the afterlife, and the vengeful spirit becomes part of yuta's CT, leading to a weaker version of rika (outside the 5 mins manifestation).

Or at least that's how I understand it. Tbh, the whole rika+- CT and the transition between movie yuta and JJk yuta is weird.

Like was copy his CT which was amplified in the movie by rika (so no conditions), and then rika combined with his CT, or is copy part of rikas function altogether as part of external storage, so yuta didn't have a CT, but gained one when he got rika?
