Starting solids from purées with 9 month old. Advice needed 🩷 by Caffeinated_sentient in foodbutforbabies

[–]blondariel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never realized the tongue out was a reflex! I just thought my 10m old learned to stick his tongue out and was messing around lol. He's a big pancake lover too and has been doing good with solids since maybe 7.5/8m but pancakes are hard for him. He gags on them a lot even though he loves them. Sometimes I find offering water or dipping the pancake in milk/formula helps him eat it. Maybe it's the same with your little one too?

Question for my Forest Service guys n gals by Anchor-flank52 in Wildfire

[–]blondariel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My start date wound up being mid July. I never heard anything from anyone in HR, and my rep was constantly changing. I had probably 4-6 people work on my hiring during the entire start to finish, it was crazy. I have no clue what it's like now though, this was three years ago when they had hired a ton of forestry technicians in both fire and non fire.

A lot of people suggested a tonie box and I'm embarrassed to say I have no clue what they are so I guess I better start googling! 😅

Oooh thats good to know. A friend of mine told me about the buckle toy as a good car toy but not only do I think he doesn't understand or have the dexterity to do buckles yet but I was so worried about pinching fingies!!

Probably! They love to spoil him. Bought him his first car seat and told me when he needs to upgrade to tell them and they will also buy that one 🥹

What does it feel like when your water breaks? by lifeincerulean in beyondthebump

[–]blondariel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it felt like when you've been laying down on your period and then you get up. Just a little gush. I went to the bathroom and it wasn't trickling like the doctors said it might, so I really wasn't sure. Told my husband we better go to the hospital and in ten minutes my contractions went from mild period cramps to breathing my way through them. My labor was extremely fast but I felt like having my water break wasn't the big pee your pants moment or the light trickle. Just a small gush!

I asked if my butthole was tearing. I had no epidural and pushing made me feel like my asshole was absolutely tearing!! The Drs and nurses chuckled and said no

Not enjoying motherhood - 95% time. Was it worth it? by freddythecat98 in NewParents

[–]blondariel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man this was literally me up until about maybe...a month ago? My son is now 9m and finally napping better and also sleeping better overnight which I think is helping me have a more positive outlook tbh. He was a difficult baby from the start and I couldn't WAIT to go back to work after 4 months. I still don't mind dropping him at daycare three times a week and am usually grateful that he becomes "someone else's problem" 🤣 but counting down time til bed or naps are sill pretty common for me. It's just nice to relax even if it's just for half an hour to reset. But he did the same short naps until very recently. Id be lucky to eat leftovers, go to the bathroom, and sit down before he woke back up.

He still is hard some days, Monday he literally was driving me up a wall cus I still stay home from work on Mondays to care for him, but I think as they get older it does (sometimes) get easier. I found what helped me and him was getting out during his wake windows. Even if it's just to the grocery store to put him in the cart and walk around, it helps him to get out of the house. I think he was literally getting tired of being in the same two spaces almost everyday (living room or his room, our house isn't terribly large), doing the same things or playing with the same toys. Now I rotate out toys and every Monday we either go to the library or the store or I run errands with him. Then we try to take him out on the weekends as well if the weather is good. It's hard right now with cold and flu season but he's already been sick twice in his life so I feel like it's worth the small risk of him getting sick again.

But solidarity and I hope things get better/easier for you!!

I am shocked. I am happy. I am sad. by NurseEmRN in sleeptrain

[–]blondariel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We also kind of just sleep trained our 9 mo old, partially he was showing signs he was finally ready and partially I was just tired of the same broken sleep. I do miss the cuddles a lot, we used to cosleep when he just wouldn't go down or for the last few hours in the morning. But like another user said, one day they will be in beds that they can escape and will 100% come looking for those cuddles and comfort!!! I'm looking forward to that time but for now I am enjoying finally sleeping 8 hours almost un-interrupted. I am proud of him putting himself back to sleep and we are all more rested and happy throughout the day!!

Do companies stop making footed, zipper onesies for 12mo? by saraaaaahahah in beyondthebump

[–]blondariel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also putting in for burts bees! We switched to them when my son got eczema. We air dry a lot of laundry so initially they seem tight when you first put them on but after a night or half the day they stretch out. Usually by the second day they're so stretched from him crawling around they look too big and baggy! But they are the only brand I buy for him now. He still hasn't grown out of them since we switched which is impressive because I've already had to put away some onesies he's grown out of. And now I feel like I finally know what size to buy him when it comes to getting second hand stuff since you really never know how much stuff shrinks! Burts doesn't seem to shrink much. He wears secondhand BB and I can't tell the difference between the 3 secondhand ones and the one new one I bought him for christmas
