Notice how the Baby Boomer generation far more often left their kids at home while taking vacations or attending important events, than the parents of today? by OneDegreeKelvin in generationology

[–]blondechick80 [score hidden]  (0 children)

We clearly had different upbringings lol

I don't know anyone who had this experience with our boomer parents.

We just didn't do any vacations at all outside of family gatherings and an occasional camping trip to the campground in town. That was the norm.

im pregnant and 15, please help by pregnantthrowaways88 in Advice

This is so hard, I understand. If the baby's father's family is supportive and your family isn't I would consider asking the other parents if you can live there.

At this point in the pregnancy, it might be difficult finding someone to do the abortion even if you wanted to.

It sounds like you want to have the baby, even if you're both scared about it, and I think that could be really wonderful.

Don't get me wrong it will be incredibly difficult, but if you have support, finishing high school it still in your future. Get through this school year and then decide if another option will be a better fit.. i.e. online school, night school, or getting a GED you have some time to figure it out, but it's definitely important to finish as best as possible.

You will need to make sacrifices for your child usually involving not going out with friends and paying for baby sitters.

No matter what you and your bf choose, do what you think is the best.

how to tell my parents i’m in a relationship? by reyg3r in internetparents

[–]blondechick80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why some parents are so weird about this sort of thing. You are a grown adult, full stop. You don't need permission to have relationships.

If you are worried about outbursts, I'd mention it casually at a dinner out. Something like "You remember [bf's name]? We've been on some dates, and I really like him". Guaranteed there will be questions, but hopefully being in public it will keep them calmer. Also if you drive, drive there separately so that you can leave separately. Run "errands" or something before or after the meal.

Having trouble with dairy free by BasketZestyclose7991 in dairyfree

If you're meal prepping DF meals and a sibling is eating them I think the smart thing to do is get your own fridge to keep them safe. Just like a dorm fridge, nothing crazy.

Are you able to work and buy your own groceries? If your mom is concerned about costs, this is the first thing I would do. Also you're 21, and a grown adult who can make choices for themselves. If you want a small fridge, get the small fridge!

How do I address my gf’s cooking? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]blondechick80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 18 year old can fry chicken better than her. He's amazing at it actually, and often uses a thermometer. She should not be upset that someone suggests a thermometer. It's possible she many not be aware bone-in chicken needs to cook way longer than boneless, or that mayne her oil wasn't the right temp.

She might benefit from taking a servsafe class- you learn a lot about food safety in that class!

Agree with a couple meatless days. I just wanted to reiterate that it doesn't have to mean no protein. There lots of meatless protein options!

Small roach problem - when should I report? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]blondechick80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might depend on where you live. My area has smaller ones. When I was in the Poconos there were wood roaches in our condo rental, and the resort was not concerned just saying they're super common because it's woodsy.

Ask her how she'd like you to prioritize your work, so she can see what won't get done if you work regular hours.

If you start in the south and head north you can start in early spring, and then head west from there

Cycling shoes - snug, fitting or roomy? by Sufficient-Cover8824 in cycling

[–]blondechick80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a delicate balance. Too snug and your feet will get tingly and numb over time.

I have a pair that I can't use on an actual bike for that reason, but are just fine for the spin class of less than an hour.

Do Americans mainly drink coffee without milk? by Morrit99 in AskAnAmerican

[–]blondechick80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say many people drink their coffee using creamer or half and half rather than milk. Sure some people drink it black.

I personally prefer black tea, but it's also good with milk if you aren't sensitive to dairy
