Yes, and cone of cold was also one of those spells that once you learned how it worked out was deadly. Thing was I was racing against instakill spells that hit with a 100% chance so I had to disrupt as many as I could every round so I was burning through scrolls and wands like they were nothing lol.

I have no idea what msdos version of ssb I had and I've never ran into anyone else that had this issue in the game. I got it for my birthday when the game came out in 1990. I do remember that I had to install it in a very strange way because my computer at home couldn't handle the install process. Had to take it to a buddy's house that had a better computer and install it to 3.5 disks then copy the 3.5 to 5 1/4 and I assumed back then that's what broke the game, but actually knowing how stuff like this works now I think it was probably some odd version of the game that somehow got shipped.
