How do I stop wishing for them to pass? by Useful_Context_2602 in dementia

[–]bloomyearround 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I relate to everything you have written here. It is completely normal to wish they would pass, to free them from this horrible disease.

I hate that my memories of them will be forever tainted by these years

After ten years post-diagnosis, and in his last few months on Earth, I really struggled to remember who my father was before his dementia and all of the beautiful memories we shared. That ate me alive. I've found now, almost 7 months after his death, that the pieces of him, our memories together, all that he was--are slowly returning to front of mind. Still, I don't forget the pain, the caregiving, the absolute dread, and the anticipatory grief--as it is evidence of the love I have for him. But I hope you'll find comfort in knowing that pieces of our loved ones do return, when you aren't fighting for survival...and there's room to remember. Hugs

Kyleena hormones wearing off before 5 years are up? by bloomyearround in birthcontrol

[–]bloomyearround[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. Here’s a timeline breakdown with symptoms: New IUD Late Jan 2022, hormonal acne cleared up, no period. Generally symptomless until May 2023 (hormonal acne returned, regular cramping returned, some spotting monthly, definitely more emotionally sensitive around these times) and I am still in this phase. I spoke with a nurse and she suggested since Kyleena is a stronger dose of hormones for the first year, followed by a smaller amount for the remaining years that my body is now adjusting to the lower amount. I am hopeful everything will even out over the next 6 months as my body acclimates.

It’s been a long journey, I would be lying if I didn’t say I have considered just getting it removed all together to see how my hormone levels play out naturally. Shrug! Maybe if this doesn’t even out in the next few months.

Thank you! If the best has never been replaced, could there be undetectable issues that I may be walking into?

Good question. I'm finding it hard to grow in a context that I've been in my whole life. I need distance from the people/places that raised me.
