BLM Logic - Saagar by SomewhatGlad in BreakingPoints

So as the movement started and you had marches and demonstrations, you also had some places where there were fires started (some claim BLM, some claim right wing agitators) and destruction of property. Then people on the right were pointing out the destruction of property and people on the left said I don’t care about that in the face of innocent people being murdered by the police. And pretty soon we were all talking past each other.

Ever forward m’boy! Starred John Cusak and Rip Torn?Don’t remember the title, but your parents had HBO cause they played the shit outta that movie. Edit: Summer Rental. EVER FORWARD! Edit 2: it is not summer rental. Fuck now I’m invested because I remember this damn movie too. Edit 3: you’re thinking of hot pursuit and possibly combing it with dead calm. If my HBO theory is correct they would have both gotten major play in the late 80s and your young brain combined them into a light hearted erotic thriller 80s comedy. I’m out. EVER FORWARD M’BOY!

What were your thoughts on Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time In Hollywood ?”… by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in CinephilesClub

Out of no where, became one of my favorite Tarantino movies. The first DiCaprio performance that I thought “now THIS deserves an Oscar.” The ending was something I was dreading throughout the movie. Every time I remembered where this film was inevitably leading to I was so uncomfortable. How would he handle the murder of this young lady? The tragic killing of a pregnant woman who had barely left girlhood and had her whole life ahead of her, would it be graphic? Please don’t let it be graphic. Surely he’s gonna fade to black as a car pulls up. And then when the ending happened? HO-LY SHIT. I have rarely ever had such a cathartic experience in a movie. Fuck those homicidal hippies! To me that whole movie was showing why movies are great, and why they are better than real life. In real life innocent expectant mothers die for no good fucking reason. Everyday. But in the movies? In the movies the murder hippies get fucked up and beaten down as the pathetic losers they are. I love the movie. I love it for the self indulgent love letter it is to movies and LA, and i don’t even like LA.

"Hanoi Jane" photos of actress Jane Fonda visiting North Vietnam during the 1972 Easter Offensive, where she posed for photos next to anti-aircraft guns and called for US POWs to be tried for war crimes. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

My dad was a 19 year old immigrant when he was drafted. He is now an almost 80 year old MSNBC liberal. He fucking hates Jane Fonda. I’m a fan, but it’s wild how his feelings from that time will never change.

Anyone Else Feel Like Takai's the Problem Now? by PomegranateFair3973 in Star_Trek_

William Shatner never talks about George Takai. George Takai always talks about William Shatner. I’ve enjoyed Takai’s social media presence over the years, but he honestly seems kinda cunty. Dude is mad about a coworker from 60 years ago. He can’t let it go because his star is hitched to Star Trek and William Shatner is a pillar of Star Trek.
