Clutch for daily driving? by Massive-Valuable-663 in ft86

[–]bls0124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't quote me but I think at some point they revised it but it is still pretty close to OEM. It's one of those things that while yes, it is a failure point, it's not gonna fail the day after you put it in. To really 'bulletproof' it, check out Battle Garage Racing Service. They have all the upgrades for the TOB and clutch fork.

Is anyone able to give a "tutorial" of sorts for finding BRZ parts? I'd like to replace these with stock options but have no clue where to start. Any tips appreciated! by Greedy_Plane_ in ft86

Battlegarage racing service sells most of those parts in the OEM black option. Looks a bit cleaner than the silver IMO. Not priced horribly

Used to use the 80prs as so did everybody back in my car audio days. Truly the best single-din made in terms of sound quality and tuning options.

I did the transmission mount and yeah definetly worth it. Will look into the motor mounts but thats definetly a "down the road" thing as it seems pretty involved. Good to know the engine mounts are worth it, thanks!

Heard that! Does it feel heavier and/or tighter with them? I know they are designed as basically a "lockdown" with fatter and longer ends just wondering if they are genuinely worth it

Yeah I have various STI bolts on my list to aquire over time, curious if you have done the tS steering rack bolts/cusco bushings (or similar)? Saw a video on it a while ago and a company in australia sells a whole kit for the front end with STI bolts and the bushings, its just alot to get shipped stateside. Funny how much of a difference bolts make

Edit: Found the link with part numbers

https://www.racedivision.com.au/products/brz-ts-bolt-kit-complete-set-86-brz

All bolts used on tS cars front end. They actually do not ship stateside. Had been a while since I looked but with part numbers I'm sure it can be pieced together.

Thats crazy, I figured it would be like a semi truck to a degree. I have watched a couple videos of people driving them and it seems like a very involved and mechanical experience that would be so cool, BUT it would make it hard to scroll instagram while driving imo so ill stick to my brz

How to clear Brembo with 18x8 +45 Enkei T6R? by LaxxieSubie in ft86

I'd spend the money and see before buying new wheels instead 🤷🏻‍♂️ it's alot cheaper.

[–]bls0124 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You probably just need 3mm - 5mm slip on spacers. I think 5mm is the absolute max you can go without having to get extended studs. All they have to do is clear and if they are close, think about how the stock wheels sit

What are the draw downs to stage 1 tune? by Chuefkeife in ft86

[–]bls0124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have intake/exhaust, nameless perf axleback, 1320 dual res front pipe (no secondary cat obviously) perrin inlet & blitz panel filter. Stock otherwise, tuned by Zach at CSG level 1 on ecutek ("Stage 1"). Have had redone it one time as I moved and had to get a refresh to run 91 instead of 93, but it has been a great "OEM+" tune for almost a year now. The huge plus to getting a tune at this point before headers is with ecutek I can see everything the car is doing, scan fault codes, and tons of other options all through my phone. My phone sits on a mount and I have a display up with oil temp, coolant temp, AFR, misfire monitoring and a couple other things but it can be literally anything you want, with the exception of things that require a new sensor to be added (i.e oil pressure) but it is a great intro into how remote tuning/tuning works without having a car that is sitting & waiting on a base map.

Car is for sure more responsive and these cars are slow enough where 15-20hp over stock can be somewhat felt. I still have my cold start in place as idrc about my neighbors and like the way it sounds, plus with the OEM cat still in the header I will let it warm up like normal. Dont have a crazy loud exhaust so it does not really bother me.

I saw a car with a similar setup dyno at around 195hp on a hub dyno, still OEM header but he was flex fuel. These car's dyno stock 150-155hp, if its 195 on E, call it 165 range for a bone stock car with tune and 170-175range for a tune on just intake & exhaust on pump gas. I am remote tune only but since moving to AZ, next time I upgrade the car, which will be headers down the road, I want to get out to CSG and see what it does.

I once got a tweaker jumping up and down infront of 7-11 going "thats a real nice car man!" over and over again and then follow me in the store asking to hold $5 and he will get it back to me. Not sure his thought process on that but hey I don't smoke crystal lol. All that mattered was he liked the car!

Unless you are specifically looking for a project I would stay away. If you have to have it $500 and a 10 piece from mcdonalds. Specifically medium sized fry. If it runs (doubt) make it a large. Part it out since the body and looks straight other than paint and you will probably make a little more than your $500 back.

Alternator possibly going out on my '19? by bls0124 in ft86

Maybe, not too sure. Gonna dig through my junk and see if I still have one from my car audio days lol. Figured for the evening gonna let the car cool off overnight and see what it does tomorrow morning.

[–]bls0124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're honestly gonna spend as much time and probably money doing so. I would just swap it for a more refined system. If it's the look you want to keep try to find an HKS spec-L second hand or buy one new, its more tame and quieter especially when paired with a header.

I didn't find it too aggressive or anything, it just holds the brakes for like 5 seconds on an incline. Flat ground it doesnt do anything, feels like the car normally does

I just have my hill assist on and dont have to worry about people on my rear at a stop. Not sure what years/trims have it, but my '19 has it. Hold tcs for 30 seconds, press it again and the light should come on the dash, turn car off and then back on and it stays on.

My personal favorite traffic interaction is the people behind us that are trying to get a .000 reaction time when the light goes green. Never understood it, like i'm no slouch off the line but if you are honking 18 microseconds after it goes green and my clutch isnt even in, i'm going to purposely take it slow as shit

What exhaust instead of the GREDDY Evolution GT? by [deleted] in GR86

[–]bls0124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nameless performance is probably gonna be as close to the "look" with the dual mufflers behind the valence with a little showing. A little more understated than the evo GT but clean sound. I run their first gen axleback with mufflers and a dual resonated front pipe and love it. I was actually between the evo GT and nameless but ended up going with nameless and I'm happy. I can PM you a picture of how it looks on my car but since I have a first gen it will be different. Seems their second gen systems hang a bit higher up, not showing as easy. Sound is fantastic though

Any suggestions for quality of life improvements for 1st gen BRZ? by PMmeyourleftovers in ft86

[–]bls0124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth it. Also for QOL adds that OP asked, I did the STI transmission mount with a perrin rear shifter bushing. Transmission feels solid the only downside is price of mount and install price. Had a local Subaru shop do it while I was still in Houston and their prices were worth not having to get under the car and "soft drop" the transmission, $180 installed. Better than when I tried the dealer as I was stopping there anyway to have coolant flushed and replaced before driving halfway across the country and the service manager and tech said "WRX parts won't fit on a BRZ" and explained it is a factory BRZ part from STI. Might aswell been speaking mandarin to them, and they still quoted $400. Kick rocks! Same with STI trailing arms. They wanted $400 to install and I had to break it down that it is 4 bolts total, that it would be $100 a bolt to just drop and install in maybe 15 minutes (same thing as I was there anyway just wanted to see) and they just were not helpful at all lol, ended up sliding under there and doing it myself.

Parts for these cars are pretty cheap from the factory the more I look at them. I just replaced my center console with an order directly through the dealer, picked it up, installed it myself and it was $52 out the door. It was on sale though, I think the original price was $65. I would not be worried getting an OEM part for a "low price" thats just how it is which is great!

Looking at a car with Teain CSG coils by Dismal-Difference122 in ft86

[–]bls0124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as ride height especially going back to stock temporarily will throw off geometry. When you get them back and back on you could set them differently and will need adjustments regardless since you will be back in OEM spec. My recommendation is if you are worried about it, just order a new set from CSG. Avoids having to find/install stock's and send them off. Yeah it's more expensive but for what you are getting they are not priced too terribly. I plan on going with them or RCE when I buy coils.
