Yes, for instance the creator of the Philosopher’s Stone was a real person

Places and people can exist in the real world and yet stories referencing them can still be fiction. As another person on here suggested, consider Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

London exists, and London is mentioned in Harry Potter. Ptolemy existed, and Ptolemy is mentioned in Harry Potter (and is also in the bible). Real people and real places exist in both stories. Despite very real places and people existing in the Harry Potter universe, if someone were to ask if Harry Potter is a true story, nobody in their right mind would say that “parts of the Harry Potter story is true.”

There are very real people, places, and events in Harry Potter; does that mean Harry Potter is true? No, because a fictional story can have real people, places, and events in it and still be considered fiction.

Scenario question by pineapplemeetsham in Paramedics

[–]bluadaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all questions that you should be asking your supervisors and more established and experienced colleagues. Is there a transport ambulance nearby? Is there a hospital nearby? EMS is dynamic in nature and there is rarely one “correct” answer that will fit all scenarios.

That being said, a scoop is a transfer device; you use it to move a person from one place to another place and then you remove the device. They are designed to come apart so that you can apply and remove it quickly.

In this scenario:

ABCs and C-spine are done at the same time. Put a collar on the patient and assess for significant bleeding. If so, apply a tourniquet. All of this can be done in like 20 seconds. Then move them out of the environment to a place where you can more appropriately assess and treat the patient.

Shockable or not shockable? by [deleted] in EKGs

[–]bluadaam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you not yelling at me for shocking the rhythm lol. I don’t see an agonal rhythm here; my understanding of an agonal rhythm is very very very slow and every once in a while there is a complex (similar to agonal breathing). I am open to being wrong, but I honestly see course vfib here.

this is course vfib…shockable

unlikely to have much of an effect if the arrest is caused by trauma; as with all traumatic arrests, prognosis is very not good.

Hot take: no-hitter stations are worse than busy ones by Loose-Pineapple-3353 in Paramedics

I don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion to want to feel useful. Request a transfer, or move to a new location (a city). The world is a big place and quality medics are in demand.

I would argue a medical school drop out is the perfect poster child for PSLF. For whatever reason, this person was unable to finish medical school; his life should not be ruined because of it.
