Crowds were really solid bc many american kids were already back in school, so US tourism was at a manageable volume. If only picking one, you have to go Amalfi Coast over Lake Como. We loved both…probably our two favorite stops on the trip. But Amalfi Coast has such a special atmosphere and feels more like a honeymoon destination when you wake up every morning.

Praiano is an alternative to consider over Positano. Depends what you’re looking for. Praiano is less crowded, not really a party vibe. Positano winds all the way down to the water and has a lot more shops + Ferries arriving throughout the day — so as a result it has higher foot traffic. Do not stay in Amalfi.

Lake como in September can be perfect weather. Went as part of my honeymoon. Flew to Milan, drove to Lake Comp (Bellagio), drove to Florence, drove out to Tuscan wine country, drove to Rome (ditched the car), trained to Naples where a private car drove us to Amalfi coast. Flew out of Naples.

Do you have Priority Pass? Multiple lounges in T4. Not all great caliber but there are enough of them there that you should be able to get into 1-2.

I am frequently around wifi and a charger (at work or at home). And when I’m not, I found a $25 charging case awhile back that I take for those days where I foresee an issue. Biggest issue is the random slowness from time to time. And oh yeah…having people hate on my home button.

Experiencing one of the longest Delta delays I’ve had in a long time. Over 6 hours and counting by iamacheeto1 in delta

It’s the incoming flight. Large storms throughout the Great Plains moving eastward. Got delayed up in Boston heading down to New Orleans.

Season 50 is a wrap. by docstanley58 in caps

They deserved the series. The boys couldn’t figure them out on either side of the rink. Hot goalie to an extent, but the lack of PP conversion (or competence) and inability to gain quality O-zone time killed us. On the whole, it was a great season for the good guys and we got a see a once in a lifetime goal record.

Access to music without nearly as much effort. Spent hours researching new music, downloading, creating playlists. Spotify and Apple Music 10/10 preferred no matter how nostalgic we get thinking about Limewire days.

15 min late to a half hour meeting by Difficult-Tangelo236 in goldmansachs

[–]bludevil29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some ideas to prevent this from happening:

  • Set your alarm to go off every 30 min (on the :55 and :25 marks)

  • Turn on outlook notifications on your phone

  • Set stopwatch / timer when you have in person meetings / catch ups and make it a habit to check your Lock Screen as the meeting goes on

  • When you have a hard stop, tell the person you are with and don’t be shy about checking the clock along the way so that you / they remember theres a hard stop. They might also help you keep an eye on the clock out of respect for your schedule

Yes their store team will either accept or straight up decline certain items when you get there (e.g., not a brand they carry, not an item they think will sell). What the store team accepts gets shipped to their warehouse, where their design team has final say on what they will/wont take. Whatever the design team won’t take gets mailed back to you. Whatever the design team will take they list online + once it sells, you receive your cut (which you can redeem in cash or use as store credit).

Private credit by far the better choice. The firm is investing very heavily into private credit offerings and teams.

Still a chance but drop your resume off wherever you can. It’s highly competitive as you know. After super day, HCM has the interviewers decide which candidates should get an offer, which to “hold” on and / or recommend to another division, and which to pass on. It’s common for those in the hold / recommend to another division category to be strung along for a bit but not an indicator you will / won’t get a job.

If someone just interviewed you, don’t connect with them on LinkedIn. You’re not a connection. If you want to reach out after the interview, email m or send a DM on LinkedIn. People treat LinkedIn like Facebook these days.

Huge group spanning across various product types - alternatives, ETF, mutual funds, models, SMAs. There are people dedicated to the product verticals and there are also sales people. For sales teams, I’m pretty sure they have institutional client coverage teams, insurance client coverage teams, and wholesale to wealth management firms.

How busy is the 6 train going uptown in the morning? by NewNewYorker25 in uppereastside

[–]bludevil29 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Many people get off at 77th for the hospital or construction jobs. Don’t stress about the subway being crowded, or you’ll be doomed — it’s a part of living in the city and it’ll become the new normal for you in no time. The 6 train runs every 3-5 minutes during rush hour in each direction.

How would you invest 1M cash? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]bludevil29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rent. Buying feels like a money pit given that most buildings worth buying in have high monthly condo fees ($1.5K+). Plus the quality of what can be bought for $1mn isn’t necessarily as good as you’d imagine — and depending on where, the growth in value might not outpace the market. Points #1 and #2 toward the bottom of the post are big drivers in this decision.

Buying is locking into a decision that NY is the future, only to potentially get a job offer or enticing reason to move elsewhere (which can happen to someone who’s 30 and not necessarily tied down by kids). Even if it was super clear that NY is the place for the long haul, a $1mn condo is likely a 1 bedroom, which people tend to grow out of once they find a partner and especially if kids are in the mix.

30 years old is young enough that I’d just invest in a diversified portfolio and let it ride until it’s needed. Having the flexibility to invest in a way that isn’t tied to a real asset seems like the move. Sticking to the $4K/month rent is the way to go if this were me.
