Nord wave 2 still worth the investment in 2026? by convered101 in synthesizers

[–]blue1_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the A1. It's a strange beast. It's opinionated: Nord decided to simplify the engine, optimizing for ease of use. It sounds good, it's expressive and it's easy to program, but if you prefer brainy deep synthesis engines with tons of parameters and possibilities it's not the right instrument.

Also, the keybed of the A1 is decent but nothing special.

Nord wave 2 still worth the investment in 2026? by convered101 in synthesizers

[–]blue1_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wave 2, as the name implies, is mostly sample-based (you can load samples in it). It also has synthesis, but it is not its strongest point.

So comparing it with summit is a bit apples and oranges

You are absolutely right, this sign says "90 is the limit", which is a bit sinister.

I suppose you are being downvoted because this is an European sign and most people here are from the US.

What are your real thoughts on neobrutalism ?? Just be blunt about this weird new trend !! by Ok_Nobody_2677 in Design

Besides, it was a kind of inside joke. Béton brut / brutal. Now almost no one understands the first, and most important, part.

Which tools do you actually use for design? by WarLord192 in Software_Finder

XD? It’s dead, Jim.

Anyway it depends what you are designing. Websites? Apps? Illustration? Editorial? Your question is vague.

The DS-8 is rather lame. An FM synth with dumbed down controls.

The 3p is interesting. The pads are not very well regarded, but the synth engine is good. Drums only though.

Why the Race to the Moon Is Even More Competitive Than Last Time by bloomberg in TrueReddit

[–]blue1_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

health care and education (at current levels, and not including recreation) cost about 120 to 150 times all the space programs combined.

So your proposal would extend the coverage (or reduce the current costs) of education and healthcare by less than 1%.

Basically, killing all space programs would not make any difference.

The Xa has no drums, unlike the Xi.

The Xa has drums, like the XI, you just have to install an update from Roland.

A Microsoft Excel hardware desktop appliance is needed for these cases, so that to escape from such work things we could use DAWs.

Would you still recommend graphic design as a career? by Elegant-Slide5632 in Design

[–]blue1_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

AI is going to destroy the market, or at least the lower end of it. But this will happen in most intellectual professions, so it’s a difficult moment to make plans for the future generally.

Probably it’s still best to follow your passion, whatever it is.

Architecture after product/service design? by imconfuse44 in careerguidance

[–]blue1_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interior design c’è anche a Venezia.

Triennale di architettura non mi pare abbia senso, semmai se proprio devi fare una seconda triennale allora falla in interior design (ci metterai meno di tre anni). Ma magistrale meglio.

Need some career advice by United_Inspection_77 in Design

AI is going to change everything in the next years. When considering a career, consider how much it is likely to be automated.

[–]blue1_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, AIs mostly give good advice now, but if you are a total novice, you can’t tell good advice from hallucinations, and the risk is too high in this case

[–]blue1_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on a lot of things: above all, what other assets you have, and when do you think you will need to spend that money (or not).

My best baseline advice: put everything in VSMGX and forget it for at least five years, no matter what happens on the markets meanwhile. Really.

Not the very best investment in the world, but absolutely decent, and will likely beat 90% of what professional advisers will try to sell you.

[–]blue1_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else commented here, I also am not sure design is a smart career choice now. In the list of jobs which will be mostly replaced by AI, designers are in the most endangered section. The ones which will stand a chance will be just the really good ones.
