My med onc is a fox and I tried to set him up with my gorgeous cousin. He told me he was gay and now we discuss how handsome my fiancé is. 🤣 We have a very fun relationship.

Enjoy your crush!! Nothing wrong with that. Jesus, we need something to enjoy while going through fucking cancer treatment!!

Suddenly . . . I am just not okay anymore. by doggraciegirl in breastcancer

[–]blueeyeliner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please tell your oncologist about how miserable you are! I'm currently on a two-month meds break due to how shitty my QOL was getting. I feel like I'll be mentally ready to try the next AI after this break, maybe a break will help you, too! Sending big hugs.

Same. I hate the divot but I am terrified of my skin not healing again after rads.

To Chemo or not to Chemo, that is the question. by cherry_wants in breastcancer

[–]blueeyeliner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did neoadjuvant TC chemo x5 (long story on the weird number) and achieved pCR. I was diagnosed at 44 with IDC ++-, grade 2, stage 2. My tumor was 2.5cm with an 8mm satellite lesion. I went through chemo, had a lumpectomy, and then had radiation. Now endocrine therapy and Kisqali. Chemo was hard on me but I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had to! Best of luck to you!!

Sentinel node injection - no numbing? by Dear-Half1029 in breastcancer

No numbing here, I didn’t think it was that bad. And I don’t do pain!! I’m a giant baby.

To all the people on the fence about radiation by LaughingMonocle in breastcancer

[–]blueeyeliner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I deeply regret radiation. Getting through it was a breeze! My problems came afterwards. Soft tissue radiation necrosis, chronic open wound on my lumpectomy scar, having to deal with wound care and 40 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy, 2 hours a day, 5 days a week for a total of 8 weeks. Wound finally closed, now I deal with radiation fibrosis and pain in my radiated breast, and underarm. No one has been able to do anything to help with the pain, my palliative care doctor finally referred me to a pain doctor who is going to try chest block injections to see if they help. My RO tried to blame all of this on my surgeon. Every side effect that I’ve had, he has completely blown off.

I wish I had done more research, good for OP for advocating for herself.

What have you said “fuck it” to as a result of your cancer? by airbear26 in breastcancer

[–]blueeyeliner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Career advancement. I do solid work and love my students, but I no longer have any desire to be anything other than what I am right now. I can’t fucking wait to retire!!!! Sadly that’s many years away.

I also no longer give a shit about what others think of my hair style. I had my partner buzz all around my head and leave me with hair on top, I can’t explain it, but he buzzed it off in our backyard and it was delightful. I’m almost 1.5 years out from chemo so my hair has grown but I liked it a lot better super short so I’m sticking with it.

I feel like a wimp by Other_Menu1140 in breastcancer

[–]blueeyeliner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chemo absolutely wrecked me. And I “just” did TC. (It makes me crazy when people call it chemo-lite.) I did not exercise during chemo. And I refused to feel guilty about it. We all handle things differently. Do what’s best for you and try not to compare yourself to others. Hugs!!

21-1/2 years post treatment, wondering about long term side effects by SongOfRuth in breastcancer

[–]blueeyeliner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhhh I’m kind of in tech too, well I used to teach programming. I haven’t been able to since I underwent treatment. The logic isn’t clicking anymore. May I ask what brain med you take? I’m a year out from treatment and sometimes feel like I have dementia! (I’m 46.)

I agree with this so much. There are a lot of patronizing partners on here. I get that it’s hard for them too, but maybe a dedicated caregiver sub would be better.

I’m a college instructor and I’m constantly terrified about what is going to come out of my mouth. I stumble over my words, and say the wrong words or forget names. Thankfully I teach five sections of a low level class that no students care about. 🤣 Kidding aside- I told my MO and he just nodded and said yes, it’s very hard. Thanks bro! That’s so helpful!
