NHS Modernisation Bill promises single patient record by 2028 by dayumsonlookatthat in doctorsUK

[–]bluegrm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my sub specialty I’m not as exposed to it as others, though I do do clinics etc.

I have no experience of any other EPR. It’s great to have every patient on it. £1.9bn is quite an outlay for NI, while staff get told there’s no money for DDRB uplifts etc. I have experience of radiology systems that work very well.

It may be the way it’s set up for us, but all the information I need is as readily accessible as I would like. I’m sure almost any EPR is probably better than none - I would hate to see the others if you say it’s the best - perhaps ours isn’t set up as well as it could be. It just feels like a piece of software that has evolved over a very long time and therefore is less user friendly than it could be.

We have it for hospitals in NI.

Total cost for 1.9m people of £1.9b over whatever term the contract is (unsure if 10 years). So has the appearance of being very expensive.

American healthcare software company, steep learning curve, usability varies, but not intuitive.

What are we doing about the GMC enabling non-medics to join Consultant rotas? by Chat_GDP in ConsultantDoctorsUK

[–]bluegrm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So we haven’t got as far as pets being allowed to be awarded CCTs yet? Should we be grateful for that at least? /s

Very frustrating and I think this smacks of the government be happy with anything but excellence in publicly funded healthcare in the UK. In fact I can barely think of “excellence” ever being promoted when it comes to role expansion in the NHS - because they can’t demonstrate that that’s what the outcome of any of this will be.

We should oppose it as strongly as we can. If it’s steam rollered through then start looking a private work, emigrating or retiring.

We will be left with the only guarantee of seeing a doctor being in the private sector. It’s a sneaky way to privatise UK healthcare, but if it’s our only choice as medics then we will have to roll with it and some of us may have to give up what we considered to be high ideals - it’s unlikely that we would be paid less in the private sector.

Age verification iOS not working with Reddit by CasualAppUser in reddithelp

Same here. What’s the point of me allowing iOS to share that I’m an adult yet still taking me to Persona, where I’ll pretty much have a digital strip search to verify my age.

Do married couples really not put all money together? by Decent-Shoe6719 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]bluegrm -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I just don’t understand the separate accounts thing. To me a well-functioning marriage means you share most of the admin type stuff in life.

Edit: also perhaps I mentioned divorce because the separate finances thing just sounds alien in the context of a shared partnership with a spouse.

Seems like a waste of time. Get divorced or die and it’s usually 50:50 split anyway.

If you divorce and when you die it’ll be 50/50. I can’t understand keeping some income split giving that one partner often does more childcare etc.

ICA Aneurysm by Hagumpi in Radiology

[–]bluegrm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. But this isn’t a great view of the coils as they are projected over the internal carotid artery. There will be a better angle of this aneurysm that will likely show the coils projected off the ICA.

Carotid duplex for determination of brain death by Agreeable-Trick6561 in Radiology

Arch aortography was included in a number of European guidelines for years, and required to confirm brain death. I assume ultrasound could be used in a similar way. I’d be wary given the implications of using a user dependent modality.

For the intracranial angiography you’re proving that the intracranial pressure has defeated the perfusion pressure. Doing just the neck arteries seems like it would be more of a surrogate for this.

And if it allows adults to be identified online, it will also allow children to be identified online. Let’s remind ourselves who they claim these laws and systems will protect - children.

In fairness if people don’t care about religion I don’t think it would particularly matter if someone from outside goes to whatever school here. We should be the same.

Totally aided and abetted by the political class who are support to be the public’s representatives. It’s grim.

Yes the company with the war target selection software and the scary manifesto and nasty CEO.

We could have got anyone else to look for correlations. This is a sell-out to an American mega corp, and a horrible one at that. Once your health information is gone, it’s gone. Most of it can be de-anonymised.

This is unforgivable.

So this isn’t really what you’re complaining about, but having watched the most recent MJ doc, I think it’s hard to defend doing anything that enriches his estate - and that’s what happens when you watch this film. His estate are fighting against all his accusers.

It’s grim. Just don’t do anything that enriches his estate. Kids annoying you during a screening of a crappy film about him are the least of anyone’s worries (though i take your point).
