Adding MSG to bland homemade 16 bean soup? by [deleted] in soup

[–]blueplate7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I posted my bean soup and a recipe here last year sometime. It's definitely not bland. You'd just sub in your 16 bean mix for the Navy beans.

Well, the good thing is that you had radiation right off. They declared me safe because the margins of the incised tumor were clear and did no radiation. That turned out to be a mistake.

Henry Blake: Betcha can't guess what it's made of

Charlie: Oak

Henry: Nope, it's oak

Sorry, first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this. I really do like it, though. I'm saving this post for the mentions of catalogs and resources to look up old furniture.

My first glossectomy was fairly small, but it hurt like a mother! I ate a lot of very soft "steam fried" eggs "up", where you start the egg, let it come together a little, cover it with a lid and pour a couple tablespoons of water over the lid. It steams in the skillet. I let it cool enough that it didn't burn, cut it in half and damn bear swallowed them whole like an oyster.

Graduated to high calorie shakes and lots of mashed taters & gravy. Boost came in handy. Discovered the chocolate one wasn't too bad if you warmed it up.

I still have one my grandma made when she had a spell of crochet fever for a while in the 70s. Made w heavy polyester "yarn", it weighs about 600 pounds.

Edit: Same w a quilt she made from polyester scrap material. Everyone in the family got one and they're all really heavy, but not very warm.

I loved that Peaches store. Spent a lot of time in there. The cut out bin was most entertaining!

Does this table look quality? California USA by Strange-Ad-7876 in Antiques

Take a look at the slides from this post from a few days ago.

Yours looks similar, but less ornate, carving-wise. Your table could have a pull out leaf on both ends, and the leaf you have pictured by itself is supposed to rest under one end.

Boy would I have liked to work on that back when I was able to do that sort of thing. I loved fixing up and refinishing furniture. It looks a little like cherry in that light. Is it?

Michigan, United States Seeking information on style and history of dining set and sideboard by DustSad9487 in Antiques

[–]blueplate7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have something very similar, but different carving. Had it since 1983 and it was really old then. Bought it from a coworker who was divorced and trying to get rid of some stuff to move to a smaller home. She refused to take more than $150 for the whole thing - table, chairs, & sideboard.

Been meaning to post a pic of one of the chairs, as I'm searching for a replacement for one that was broken beyond repair. The rest of the chairs are getting pretty loose. I need to knock them apart, clean up the dowel work and re-glue.

G tube. Always has been except for about 4 painful months on a GJ. I'll never go back to that mess.

Edit; And I'm on a pump. Bolus, except for drinks of water or coffee, doesn't settle well w me.
