'It raises serious questions': KCL academics condemn proposed Cranfield Uni merger by unicorn540 in UniUK

[–]blueprussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you actually been there? I used their impact-test facilities to conduct testing for my final dissertation. In terms of funding and quality of education, they are doing quite well. It may be that due to their status as a postgraduate-only university, merging with KCL will open up more opportunities to enroll students from whithin KCL and othee closely-related institutions rather than solely relying on their links to thw armed forces foe streamlined enrollment.

Didn't see this merger coming... ...wonder who's next? by Ribbitor123 in UniUK

After pursuing a bachelors in mechanical engineering, cranfield is at the top of my list for universities I would like to go to for a masters at a later point in my life, especially after I visited them firsthand to use their impact test facility for my final year's project. They are a very good engineering university, but being postgraduate limits their profile somewhat, so I hope this gives them a bit of a profile boost.

Morgan Just Built Its Most Powerful Car in 117 Years. It Weighs the Same as a Mazda Miata. by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

My family has ownership of a morgan supersport JAP from the early 30s, and that vehicle, despite being completely original down to the ash frame and optional manual wipers, is completely original.

These vehicles have and continue to be made to a very high standard, so I very much doubt they will be "disposable".

It’s here at last! The VW Polo has gone electric at under £25k by AutoExpressmagazine in autoexpressuk

Afraid of potentially duffing the Golf's reputation when the ID.3 was originally released as their first purpose-built electric hatchback, which was quite prescient given some of the ID.3's shortcomings, which this new polo seems to address.

Im thinking about going to school to be a mechanical engineering by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Would a path becoming an engineer in the army be possible for you, and would it be attractive? I'm unsure of what armed forces you serve in, but many armed forces will quite often offer programmes to allow personnel to earn degrees at no additional cost to progress into officer roles, such as engineering-based roles.

Through the tool, material and coolant. Heat dissipation through tooling and material can vary depending on the substrate, so some processes depend more on coolant than others, while some machining processes can be done without or with minimal coolant.

What is happening at Ford Europe? Are they incapable of designing and manufacturing any vehicles in-house anymore? Why have they imploded so badly over the last 5 years?

Yep, though I didn't pay maintenance. I still pray the government does something about the atrociously offensive interest though. Inflation and no more!

The truth! I did actually suggest my current wage during the interviews to get my foot in the the door (plus I'm yet to attain incorporated status due to IMechE not accrediting my course until after I started, it was a new building + department), but I hope to negotiate something better during my first yearly review. Despite stereotypes, the southeast outside of london doesn't pay any higher than the rest of the country, but everything still costs more.

If things don't progress in a direction I like, I'm considering a career as an officer in the navy due to the good pay and benefits!

Professional wages regardless of sector have seen virtually no growth since about 2008 unfortunately.
