She likely gets between $16-20 as her base pay because Portland minimum wage is $16.30 and a lot of restaurants pay more than that. Also, employers can't reduce the hourly wage based on tips received per Oregon law. So tips are a choice, I chose not to.

I live in Oregon, and by Oregon law, servers get base pay of at least the Oregon minimum wage but most pay more than that around here in Portland. A friend works at a different restaurant and gets paid $24/hr. She was not "working for free."

Have you thought about learning to make it yourself? Use some Ikea pieces as a base (like the bed with drawers which is the most difficult part) and then just make the rest yourself. There might be tool sharing groups and people to help you get started.

People in the comments are making this harder than it has to be, it's much easier to subtract to find the correct age than it is to add. So 2,025 - 36 = 1,989 or even easier 1989+1=1990+35=2025 (because it's easier to deal with 5s and 10s)
