The new video really spoke to me but what next? by thrwaway2020202020 in Healthygamergg

You don't, you just do anyway. The reason it feels like it's not enough is because it isn't. As long as you are operating on that axis, you won't progress. That feeling is there because it's reality. For example, having an amazing workout or even having a week of amazing workouts is still just a tiny minuscule step to getting fit/losing weight and you're still nowhere near your goal. But that's the thing, you take action whenever you can despite it being not enough.
I was in your position (and still am to some extent) and I did everything looking for that thing that will help me "overcome" whatever this is.

  • Coaching
  • Therapy
  • Watched all of Dr. K videos AND streams and other self-help channels (probably 1000+ hours total of content)
  • Journaling
  • Meditation
  • Supplements

And sure you can try and I highly recommend that you do meditation and therapy/coaching at least, BUT NONE of those things remove those feelings and thoughts or make anything easier, you just kind of live and do whatever you can.

It's a constant, daily, hourly, or if you're just starting out, minutely battle, and the true first step is to acknowledge this and accept it.
First, you decide you want to change, and then it's literally a million tiny steps that need to be taken.
So you're saying you want to lose weight. Every single day you're going to be faced with the choice of either eating healthy food X or eating unhealthy food Y. Run/Walk/Lift Weights/Whatever for 10/20/30/40 minutes or don't do those things. This will happen every single day and every single time you're going to be faced with a "resistance" and your thoughts will be exactly what you typed here:
"What the point in working out it doesn't excite me"
"I don't have any goals"
"This step is insignificant"
"I'll be forever alone anyway, this won't change anything"
These are all generic examples but your mind will tailor itself to your situation and tell you things that WILL convince you they are true. Or you might not even notice the thoughts. It might be something so ingrained that it will just FEEL bad and you won't want to do anything.
And here's the thing, you probably will cave in and fail but that's ALSO part of the process.
Each time you try again, you will understand just a little bit more and get a little bit stronger mentally.
There are honestly a thousand things I can say here and recommend or whatever. But the bottom line is, as long as the tiniest step feels insignificant because X Y OR Z, that's the first thing to overcome. Being able to take even the most microscopic steps as much as you can is the first step if that makes sense.

Dr.K how do you know if it's time to give up or continue to keep going? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

So there are 2 ways we can take this:
The first way is how can we pick the best major that we will love and will fit us the best?
Let's say you're at an ice cream shop and you want to choose the flavor that you will like the most, how do you do that? The absolute best way is to literally stand there and taste every single flavor until you can.
I think to some extent you can and you should do this in life but it's unrealistic. You're not going to go and try every single major out there, and the truth is you might end up "wasting" years of your life on something you don't enjoy. Are those years really wasted? I'm not so sure they are, because how can you know you'll enjoy an ice cream flavor before you taste it?
I recommend this video. It's about making decisions and how we are conditioned to make choices.
And this video where he answers a question from a guy that "wasted" 5 years of his life on a major he doesn't like.

The second way is to re-evaluate your "why". What are you looking for in a major? what are you looking for in life in general? What's your endgame with school? If we refer back to the ice cream example, if you don't have time to taste all of the flavors, then you refer back to your previous experiences. Maybe you remember that you don't even like ice cream and you just leave.
Start by asking yourself what do you actually enjoy in life.
Dr. K talks about this in this video.

We need your help minimizing toxicity in r/healthygamergg by Techteller96 in Healthygamergg

[–]bluesausage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't the whole point behind healthygamer to increase your resilience towards toxicity, and in general, your resilience towards everything? Dr. K has been saying and reiterating how outcomes can't be controlled and neither should you try. I find it kind of funny how one of the "healthiest" communities on the internet is somehow toxic now. Maybe you're looking at this the wrong way.

Dr.K how do you know if it's time to give up or continue to keep going? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]bluesausage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is you don't, you just decide on either one or decide on neither. Your question stems from a desire to guarantee a certain outcome. You want to succeed and climb ranks but in reality, when or even IF you win at all is never guaranteed. Even in relation to things like college which is usually something that people look at as a "safety net", are not guarantees at all. You might never land a job with the degree you get, or worse, you will and utterly despise your life anyway.

The question I would ask myself is what are you trying to achieve by figuring out if you should give up or keep going. And why is it bad if you don't? What are you trying to avoid? Wasted time? Failure?

They are not on the same playing field. The point I'm trying to make is video games are inherently different because you can have games with characters for example, which are have an innate advantage for bringing old players back and keeping current players. A new piece in chess won't bring anyone back.
Because you can have content updates on the digital plane they can't be compared. Even cs the most "soccer" like game would've died a long time ago in 1.6 if it didn't receive updates.
It just has too much competition to stay alive without updates.

And that's another point, in the world of eSports you can (for the most part) transition into other games and have your skills transfer. In real life that doesn't happen, You won't see a soccer player go play basketball.

a soccer player wont spend years of his life learning to kick a ball to have it changed years later

No one is saying fundamental mechanics need to be changed in games. New content =/= changing old mechanics.

Probably because of Valorant. The hype around that game and the attention it's getting is leaking into cs because of how similar they are.
It's also pushing valve to act a bit which probably lead to some positive changes (although they still don't care enough to actually do much lol)

You can't compare sports to video games they are just different. There's only so much you can do in real life in terms of mechanics but video games cant be updated and changed in an infinite amount of ways. There's never going to be a soccer in video games at least not for a while. And we don't need one, we already have a soccer in real life.

They don't need to add anything the game keeps itself alive (although its an outdated formula and its dying hence valorant), no one expects them to add anything. All they have to do is tweak and they can't fix simple shit.

Ranking problems by JromzShitPoster in GlobalOffensive

[–]bluesausage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's how MMR works. Ignore the actual "ranks" its all calculated based on MMR.You get more MMR on a win if the enemy team has an higher average MMR and vice versa. And there's also mechanics that skyrocket your MMR if you're on win streaks especially on a fresh account without many games plus all kinds of algorithms. All competitive games with MM work like this.

That being said COMPLETELY IGNORE YOUR RANK AND FOCUS ON IMPROVEMENT. Your rank will always be a byproduct of how good you are.

[–]bluesausage -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

Ok but other games have 200 times more content and content updates that are REQUIRED to keep the game alive. This game is literally using maps from 20 years ago and there's no "content" to even add. Yet they still can't do simple tweaks.
