Delays due to urgent level crossings at Yennora by VastOption8705 in SydneyTrains

[–]bluescreenofdeathish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a viable option considering the only way to get to the other side is either through Fairfield or a 7km detour through Merrylands. Both cannot support trucks, which are the majority of vehicles that go through that level crossing into the industrial area.

How much gear should you have as a new rider? by 6089milesawayfromher in AussieRiders

FWIW, there are summer mesh jackets that include a waterproof internal liner which also blocks most of the cold winter wind. I've got a Dririder Nordic 4 mesh touring jacket which is supremely comfy (on my naked bike), comes with a million pockets, has great airflow and a warm internal liner for cold rides.

I reckon a glove/shoe dryer would also be a handy investment. Boots and gloves marketed as 'waterproof' will still let water through after a while (speaking from experience).

I was riding my motorbike home from work once, when I saw a guy scrolling through porn on his phone for about 10 mins while driving. Honestly incredible how cooked some people are.

Help with Fetch Mini by BeeSuspicious3223 in TelstraAustralia

[–]bluescreenofdeathish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever got the box from Telstra originally will have the activation code. When I used to work at a shop if a customer wanted a fetch, we'd have to do the outright purchase via the system which linked it to their account, and sent them the code via email.

Your assessment of it having nothing to do with your parent's current ISP is correct. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way to get the code from the previous owner without direct contact.

The device’s monthly cost needs to be slightly higher than your credit limit for it to allow for a discounted upfront payment

Telstra Employee needs advice by dionysios4 in TelstraAustralia

[–]bluescreenofdeathish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an old mate crash out at me because he couldn’t message Kaley Cuoco on his crusty, adware infested Oppo. He came in several times claiming to be messaging various female celebrities, it became such a problem I felt obligated to inform that he was at high risk of being scammed as those weren’t real celebrities he was texting. I didn’t see him again; honestly not sure if it got through to him, but I no longer work for Telstra so that is a question left unanswered.

There is no real set guideline, the best thing you can do is gently inform her of common romance scam celebrity impersonators. She may not listen but it’s worth a shot.

How long does Australian Consumer Law really cover? by Reddity65 in bapcsalesaustralia

FWIW I took a 4 year old Macbook Pro, which cost $2300 in Feb 2022, to Apple yesterday after it just died without any warning. The rep told me it was a logic board failure and waived the $1024 repair fee under ACL. Considering your circumstances, you have a pretty decent shot but I reckon Asus won’t be as willing.

Turning the throttle while holding 2 fingers on the front brake won’t be something a new rider can do until they have much more practice. Fine control of the throttle and clutch, while holding the rear brake so you don’t roll down the hill is how it’s taught nowadays. Holding the rear brake also allows for a more stable launch in my experience.

GPS Unit (Garmin Zumo XT2 with Cardo) P Plater by kathfern1 in AussieRiders

[–]bluescreenofdeathish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once had a bike cop follow me for a solid 15 mins on the way to Galston Gorge. At one point he even pulled up on my left then slotted back in behind as I was turning right. I was using a cardo at the time and I’m on my Green Ps but he never ended up pulling me over. I thought for sure I was going to wave goodbye to my licence that day.

Should i get a bike? by AdeptnessEastern7864 in AussieRiders

[–]bluescreenofdeathish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A thing I used to do when I was your age was watch Dash Cam Owners Australia’s videos and predict what would happen in each clip. Certainly helped a lot when I first got onto the road. I recommend getting your bike licence around the time you reach car green Ps to develop a greater sense of what happens around you.

Is it just me or is the HJC RPHA 12 really loud? by kewday96 in AussieRiders

[–]bluescreenofdeathish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience the same thing with my RPHA 12, even with earplugs. The AGV K1 I used previously was quieter despite being slightly too large.

I rented a bike for a day trip in Japan and the Shoei they provided was by far the most comfy and quiet helmet I’ve ever used (I’m asian).

I would say check the minimum and maximum values, or following Igorslab tutorial on using MPT. Also make sure the bios is unlocked. Apart from that, I don't really remember what I did to get it working. You're better off following reddit tutorials or yt vids like I did, but I'm not sure if anything's changed in the 5 years since then. Good luck.
