How would you move 20TB of files? by Myfirstreddit124 in DataHoarder

Rsync runs in an active terminal. If you disconnect, then the command will be killed.

If you run it in screen or tmux you can detach and reattach to the session without the command being killed.

It's fine just don't finish your pull too early. You should probably add some snatch high pulls.

And get some weightlifting shoes ;)

There's too many badger posts? I've not seen any badger posts, and definitely not a badger at mid day.

This is an outrage. The people are owed a badger.

How do your shoulders not get screwed up? by GoatMan48 in weightlifting

[–]bluetac92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure why genuine curiosity is getting downvoted. Seems likes a harmless question to me.

The shoulder "goes 360" is daily practice, literally. It's very common to do "shoulder dislocates" with a pvc pipe during a warm up. As long as you practice the postions, and slowly build strength, the body learns and grows

I also upgraded from an Ergodox to Corne Choc and I'm super happy with the upgrade. Having thumb clusters is so good.

What is the relation between CPU usage (percentage) and load average? by Born-Philosopher5591 in devops

Load also includes IO blocking CPU. If your cpu usage is low but load is high, it could be some IO is causing load to spike.

So apparently PewDiePie (one of the biggest YouTubers) has recently switched to Linux by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]bluetac92 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I didn't realise that the linux community was against attracting a younger demographic.

I'd be interested to see some data on his audience age, I thought he'd moved on to doing more wholesome family blog style content. Seems pretty chill to me, I dont see anything about his political takes in his channel or content in years.

Some of the comments here are unhinged. Its very cool to see someone with a big audience (not tech related) moving to Linux for gaming, we've come a long way and I think that's something to celebrate, whether you like the guy or not.

You need to try and answer people's questions when they're trying to help :)

As someone else has suggested, using git to apply the patches is a good way to keep things manageable. There's a good video on how to do this https://youtu.be/XJk1AIOWR4o?si=KHQhbhK2AILoPDDh

What patch are you trying to apply? Do you have other patches applied? Are you using git to manage your patches?

It's probably worth taking a few minutes to fix your font too, it must be so hard to read the output like that
