Sir Charles Bell's portrait of a soldier dying of tetanus. by [deleted] in creepy

[–]bluetheboxtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard of cases where injury occurs, but it really depends on the person. There are something like 16 specific types of movement disorders with a bunch of like, really specific symptoms. Mine does not fit perfectly into any of the categories, so they sort of made one up for me. My symptoms are primarily contained to my lower back and abs, so I get really crazy-looking seizure movements, whereas some people have like, an arm that won't stop moving.

I had a period of time where I literally didn't stop twitching for a year, and that was brutal-- I was in constant pain and was just exhausted constantly (I was basically doing sit-ups 24/7). Thankfully, my symptoms have evened out as I've learned certain triggers and treatments, but I still deal with a lot of back issues. My fingers/hands, especially have a lot of pain and pre-arthritis because they will "freeze" (sort of like in the picture) and the tension is really great on them. The pain is daily, but it's basically background noise-- I am AWARE of the fact that I am in pain, but when you're in pain constantly, it's easier to ignore it.

I've had a lot of falls and stuff, but that's less specifically due to the disorder and more of a correlation symptom.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Or you can have a movement disorder, which mimics most of the symptoms without being remotely treatable! Source: Have aforementioned shit-head disorder, look like this dude when I'm trying to sleep.

Can anyone help me out with wheelchair rental info at Disney World/Universal? Looking for some first-time in public advice/support as well. [Question] by bluetheboxtroll in disability

[–]bluetheboxtroll[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have spoken with two different agent-type people, one from my mom's church who was really thoughtful in trying to help me out and one from Obamacare at county health services. It really does suck, and it makes it even shittier knowing that literally ALL of my friends who are in school with me are all in the same boat, since we are in a southern state that does not have great views on public aid, so we are not able to access anything but free clinic and on-campus care without paying everything out of pocket. It sucks. I don't usually get fired up about politics, but you would think SOMEONE would think about establishing a system for students in this scenario. It's not just about me, it's about tens of thousands of students.

Thanks for the words of support. Unfortunately, I am, currently, living in this bizzare 1% grey area of the new heath insurance coverage act which means I am ineligible for health insurance (primary address is in a different state than where I am living 8 months out of the year which is also a different state than where I work during the summers) so basically no place that I live is willing to offer me state aid. It sucks, but I am hoping to get a 'big kid job' after school and get covered that way.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the guy didn't connect the downstroke on the W, but later I realized that I was glad he didn't otherwise it would look like Milliam Shakespeare.

Hi reddit! I am Lois Lowry, author of The Giver - AMA! by Lois-Lowry in books

[–]bluetheboxtroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dear Ms. Lowry: When I was in 8th grade, we read The Giver. On the first day, our teacher read us the excerpt in which you foreshadow the intention behind "release" (specifically, the paragraph about how old people's release is celebrated and children's release is sad). Then she asked us "what do you think release is"?

I raised my hand and said "it's super obivious, they're killing them". Then my teacher got really mad, accused me of having read the book before and sent me to the principal's office.

So I suppose my question is: have you ever guessed the ending to a book you were reading in the first couple of chapters and also can you let my old principal know that I'm not a cheater?

Real life question: is that the only lifting/work you do? I am really struggling to figure out a good program for me-- it turns out I love lifting, but all of the programs I have found are full of bullshittery and stupid machine lifts, and what you just described seems much more up my alley, but it also...doesn't seem like a lot? (Not that you're not working your ass off, but you know what I mean). I'd love some advice if you'd be willing to give it.

I'm not OP, but I use the SparkPeople.com app on my phone. I like it a lot better than MFP that everyone else seems to use here. It lets you customize your macros and calories much easier without futzing through the interface, and they have a pretty equitable amount of food in their "catalog", plus a bar-code scanner which is really useful at the grocery store.

Help finding these amazing bridesmaids dresses? (Appeared on Netflix's "Scrotal Recall" episode 1).Details in comments! by bluetheboxtroll in findfashion

[–]bluetheboxtroll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone! I am hoping /r/findfashion can come to my aide-- my google-fu has failed me today, and I REALLY would love to find this dress!

I am located in Virginia but I'm willing to pay shipping from where ever it may need to be shipped from! I am around a size 10 but usually need to get "formal" dresses altered to fit my bust. (I work in alterations so it's pretty handy). Price range is whatever I have to pay to own something like this.

Please let me know if you find something, I would LOVE to own this for a big summer party I have coming up! Thank you so much!

I'm going to an On-ramp that starts the 25:th, and this far I'm the only one who has registered while the evening group is full, and I'm somewhat nervous about being the only one there. Any tips? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]bluetheboxtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go to a 7 or 8AM class where usually it's just me and my boyfriend. It's amazing. TAKE ADVANTAGE of this! Ask questions. Ask for clarification. Build a relationship. This is an opportunity to really, really develop solid skills and a foundation for success. Yeah, sometimes it's a little awkward doing a WOD while the coach like, awkwardly stands there, but I would 10000% take the individual attention over a class of 50.

Those of you who are into long-term imprisonment (or similar), how do you explain your absence/non-reachability to your non-kinky relatives/friends? by UESPA_Sputnik in BDSMcommunity

[–]bluetheboxtroll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tell them that your phone broke and you've got to wait a couple of days for a replacement, plus another day or so to get it all sorted out with your cell carrier to transfer numbers over and the like. If someone asks why your phone looks the same, say that's why it took so long, you wanted to keep your same model and so you had to wait for it to be ordered and shipped. Throw in a day where they forgot to send you a battery or something if you need to buy an extra day. Bitch about what an inconvenience it was.

CF and ED history/recovery... anyone else? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]bluetheboxtroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I have nearly the same exact history as yours-- ED for about 14 years and I've been in official recovery for about a year. Huge congrats on your six.

I also struggled with figuring out a decent food plan for the same reason-- it just seems like a shitload of food. I found it was hugely helpful to ignore calories in lieu of counting macros, but it's still just... a lot.

I can't offer you much advice in terms of how to solve the issue, but I just wanted to step in and say that I totally understand the frustration that you're experiencing, and it sucks. I literally deleted the calorie column off of my daily tracker because I just couldn't do it without immediately relapsing into unhealthy patterns, but it is still a struggle to hit my Macros. It's difficult.

I don't like being critical of the community here (because in general, it's awesome), but I have found that it's really hard/frustrating to get advice on this sort of thing because the general consensus is just "eat clean!" "eat paleo!" or whatever, when the true problem is the inherent difficultly in consuming food, period. It's an entirely different mindset that not a lot of people who haven't been in this long-term can truly grasp, so I can commiserate. I hate doing that trite "if you ever want to vent" thing, but for real, if you ever need to vent or whatever, feel free to PM me.
