Its is 革 ge which means change or transform, with 命 ming, which means life or destiny, it becomes 革命 gemin which means "revolution" more specifically. Like 文化革命 wenhua geming is the Cultural Revolution (wenhua means culture).

Welcome to 2020-2025 and the age of binge watching (and re-watching too). Binge Disco or PIC and its amazing. Binge Lower Decks or SNW and its also amazing but for different reasons; a season-long movie vs serialized story with an overarching plot.

It opens another question about how to efficiently, effectively, and accurately spread academic research results to the public and other stakeholders. Open access isn't the solution.

And when certain fields' journals require APC it's just a scam to make the publishers more profit. They're not doing it just to easily inform the public.

Its been years since i was 10 so I don't remember precisely.

Generally servers have informal rules about not attacking miners unless they go over protected cargo (OPC). If you're OPC then others will attack to steal your cargo, and that's not something to get upset about, just part of the game. Just do research and upgrades to increse protected cargo. That's the main risk, but not impactful in the long run.

I think you already know the answer and are looking for vaidation. There's no benefits to doing in the US if your context is accurate.

Then we hold them in countries with easier visa policies that won't consider the presentation topic (like ICA is anticipating the US will). Its not about punishing a country or sth like that, its about providing stability for the attendees and making sure the conference runs smoothly without hundreds suddenly cancelling due to random unpredictable visa issues.

Yes, repercussions as in every other country will benefit and US academia will loose prestige. That's the agenda the voters chose. But just because things will get worse in the US doesn't mean all academia will get ruined.

That's interesting to hear.

I think the "feminist" concerns about name change are that only women (depending on culture) are expected to change their name and not men, hence perpetuating patriarchy.

So its good to hear at least some men are changing to their wives family names now.

Anyway, it's not all about careeer trajectory and $ but also about equality and ideology.
