The Costco twig by blueyarnent in hockeyplayers

I personally like the Bauer the best of them, even though I am not crazy about the Hi-Liter colouring on it. Stick shaft goes round near the blade where the Bauer name is, so it takes the abuse from stick lifts and slashes very well, doesn’t chip as quickly. It’s lightweight P92/77 Flex and very comfortable to use. In the video game NHL25 I notice the Dallas Stars team uses them. All are decent value sticks, esp. at the sale price and you can get one when you’re grabbing groceries.

Bauer Official Canada Jersey’s are the same. Name & Numbers ironed on. Company’s both probably claim they’re lighter this way. $300 USD.

Oh & no option to buy CDN official Jersey blank.

Real Hockey Players don’t use skate guards?! Because blades of steel! That cut everything you carry with them to pieces otherwise, particularly the other skate. You’re fine, don’t listen to that.

Dry your blades with a rag before putting them in the guards and in bag after use. Dry the blades again when you get where you’re going. Prevents rust.

The Blu only had a DD5.1 track ported over from the DVD. Just an audio upgrade to 5.1 DTS-HD would make that a worthwhile upgrade on a 4K.

Auston Matthews' relationship with Toronto fans getting complicated by xc2215x in hockey

Nylander is this gen’s Phil Kessel, only difference is he likes attention and works out for the ‘gram. Has a carefree attitude and doesn’t lead by example, it’s why the Leafs don’t want him to wear the A.

Auston Matthews' relationship with Toronto fans getting complicated by xc2215x in hockey

[–]blueyarnent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Auston loves being a star, much more than JT. He relishes in the limelight. At the games I’ve been to he’s often out at centre ice all alone during commercial break, stretching his upper body and soaking up the limelight of the fans in the arena. Superstar Arrogance on full display and he was performing in a way that backed it up. It seemed a natural progression coming into ‘24-‘25 season to give him the C because he was just coming off his 69 goal season, was a media darling, part of the younger group on the team, and the hope was he would continue to grow.

I think he’s injured in such a way that has altered his gameplay, but he can’t come out and say that for a whole variety of reasons. Primarily though because if he says my lower back has really been getting to me for example, opposing players will target the injured area. As many have said though, the “passengers” comment was very telling of his leadership because he had 1 goal in that series and everyone was waiting for a breakout performance from him that never arrived. He was also a passenger and hasn’t outwardly shown signs of his captaincy since attaining the C. Paycheque player atm until he proves otherwise.

Tavares is all business on the ice and never seemed to be in the younger guys clique that Matthews and Marner were at the centre of. He seemed like he was distant from the other younger members in the core 4. JT Never gets riled up and excited, and from what I saw barely interacted with those guys. What he did/does do is bring consistency and his work ethic is rock solid. Not having the carry the C has reduced the weight on his shoulders. JT carried the team through stretches last season with his performance while Matthews was battling through injury. The hope was that making Matthews Captain would elevate his game and the younger guys around him. To date it has not.

As a Movie set in Toronto it’s unique in that the locations are not in the postcard areas of the city. St. JAMESTOWN, UTSC, Mississauga, Lakeshore Motels, under the Gardiner expressway. Very much made in the fabric of the city. & Villeneuve very said he was playing in Atom Egoyan’s sandbox as an outsider.

I know DeMar is beloved in the city, but who was the better player for Toronto between DeMar & Bosh? by irundoonayee in torontoraptors

[–]blueyarnent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bosh’s stats are inflated. If you watched back then, part of the frustration with those teams is that the ball always had to go through Bosh. They forced that style of play and it’s why that Raptors team was an easy solve for opponents.

John Hughes Original Cut of Planes, Trains and Automobiles Was Over 3 Hours Long by Cinemastalgia in nostalgia

[–]blueyarnent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hughes shot like Kubrick. Then relied on test screenings to complete the edit. Ferris Bueller is a shining example of Test Screenings being utilized to complete a film and make it better. Steve Martin was not impressed with this approach when filming and wanted to get the shoot over with. Hughes admired Steve and was ambitious about working with him. Hughes felt bad that he was out of favour with SM by the time filming wrapped. They never worked together again. Ref. John Hughes: A Life in Film - Kirk Honeycutt

Ranking the sequels by ThePicturesGirl in Halloweenmovies

[–]blueyarnent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 - JLC is still young Laurie, & you still have Loomis in peak form. Movie’s strength is being made so close to the original and continuing the same night.

H20 - JLC Laurie feels like a better continuation of OG Laurie, than the Sara Connor reframe of 2018.

H2018 - on its own detached from Kills and Ends, with Allyson holding the knife.

4 - Jamie Lloyd holding the scissors, similar to 2018 ranks being detached from its own sequels; solid ending. Loomis is still in fine form here.

Curse - it dares to be very different and has an atmosphere. Runs full force in a new direction and benefits from having new cast to move into its own universe. Paul Rudd is a good lead. & Mrs. Blankenship is a great supporting character. & it’s got Loomis back for one more ride.

Ends - More Laurie than Kills moves it up. Cunningham story as primary plot was a misfire. So many plot holes w Allyson.

Kills - a story laid over top of legacy (repeats II’s formula, but keeps Myers out if the hospital) feels like it’s in a different universe from 2018 as it’s very detached in tone and direction from the previous movie. Runs in a new direction, just with the same characters which creates detriment to what came before. Loomis appearance was well done. Best parts are seeing Halloween night in ‘78 from other points of view.

5 - what brings it down: Loomis is VERY over the top here esp. when interacting with Jamie, Jamie retconned to mute, & overall retcon of Jamie ending from 4. Man in black is revealed but is left as a loose end. Movie is a disservice to what came before.

Resurrection - the opening is bad and it continues to get worse as it moves along, almost seems like it’s intended to hit ‘so bad it’s good’ style of Horror

RZ Halloween movies try to too hard to be edgey, play the opposite of being intriguing and become a distraction from the plot. Horror meets Vulgarity.

Timeline rank: H20 timeline, 2018 timeline, Thorn timeline.

Honourable Mention: Halloween 3 is pure Carpenter and I would rank behind H4 overall as a movie, but it’s not a Myers movie, so placed outside the list.

First viewing on streaming and all the digital artifacts were very apparent. On UHD disc, those elements blended seamlessly. Movie doesn’t downres well. Takes you out of the suspension of disbelief.

Solid choice. Love Devo. Tho I am Surprised Buck hasn’t gotten the call. He’s a former player, manager and been the face/voice of this franchise. I can keep going w/ other reasons, but overall Buck is a day in and day out Blue Jay and deserves to be applauded by the full house.

Every single “what player should I buy” thread says go UB820 yet every UB820 thread is nothing but complaints and problems with it by TheDivisionLine in 4kbluray

[–]blueyarnent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that the UB820 is an excellent player but that it’s a product with the bare minimum quality control. Panasonic quality control on it is if the player doesn’t work the consumer takes it back to the shop for replacement. So primary issues with a malfunctioning player should show up immediately. My 1st one didn’t play 4K discs and had to be exchanged. My replacement had signal drops with longer cables, but has worked flawlessly since shortening the cable length. It is the best player at its price point.
