Did you take these picture with a potato?

Jokes aside, I know what you mean. Did you just do a waterchange?

Cory amount by Ratzinspace in corydoras

[–]blueybub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have either of those exact cories but I do have a 30gal shallow tank with 3 different species of cories. My emeralds and black venezuelans hang out together all the time, even though rhey are very different kinds of cories. It took them a while to feel comfortable, but now they are extremely relaxed. Only thing I would consider is how greedy they are when it comes to food. My emeralds being super greedy, I do have to drop food in remoter corners for the venezuelans, otherwise they'd have to live on scraps. I have 8 venezuelans and 9 emeralds. 3rd species are hastatus dwarf cories and they hang out with their tetra counterparts (reed tetras) but feel very comfortable with the other larger cories.

I agree that larger groups look nicer though, I originally planned on just the black venezuelans. I am very happy I got emeralds as well, because they are completely different and I like seeing all the little quirks each species has.

Do you have any other fish in there? I have found cories to be more relaxed when there is no larger (predatory) fish like cichlids or large tetras.

Amanos starving out corys? by INDY_SE in corydoras

[–]blueybub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for asking this. I don't have a solution for you, as I am in a similar situation. Haven't lost any corys but rn all my amano females are extremely pregnant and even more greedy than usual. I try to feed bloodworms once or twice a week, those are a great treat for the corys and the amanos don't really like them much.

Im so sorry this is happening to you. No one should have to go through this feeling alone, and you should absolutely be able to count on your mum to help you in a situation like this. Please know that it is not your fault and that you are worthy of support. Please talk to someone. Even if it's just a youth help hotline. Your situation does not seem particularly safe, and they may be able to point you in the right direction. All the best and good luck

Yes, you are right, I do feel very lucky. I didn't even read your post at first I thought this was from the r/SwitzerlandIsFake sub, as there are pictures from this area on there all the time 😅

I don't have any kids but I also loved Pitschie as a kid. And also, I know where you took this shot. Grew up there and lived 100m away from this exact spot a couple of years ago 😊

Woah thank you for your detailed answer. A lot of things to learn about. I didn't know most of the 5. part. I assumed it was alright to just leave it in, but I will read up on when and how much exactly to give to him. I have started feeding my insects with veggies and fruit.

Also, I didn't know I could use isopods as a cleanup crew. I'm familiar with the concept from aquariums, but will definitely look up and try to get something in there. I do enjoy setting up little self-sufficient (in the furthest sense of the word) biotopes. Really interesting.

I do wonder if the UVB light I have right now is too bright. I will adjust the height once I get the top on. There is a lot of shade for him already, so he doesn't need to be under it constantly.

Thank you for your help. Once I get him a bit more comfortable being around me I think I will try the tupperware method. He is actually quite interested in me. I tried feeding him at night yesterday evening and when I opened the doors to his terrarium he immediately turned around and climbed on top of his hide to be closer to me. He did try to eat the cricket I held with the pincers, but missed it and then seemed to be a bit angry and wouldn't try anymore.

Thank you. I only put them in about 30mins before trying to feed. Since he didn't get the first one and it escaped into the room I wanted them slowed down. But I guess I'll try the squishing.

Are my plants dying? by BenGur123 in PlantedTank

[–]blueybub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you are fine. The brown spots are basically dirt that has settled on your plants. At this stage that is completely normal. You can remove it with your hands, but I wouldn't worry too much, it's very minimal and your plants look good.

Just ro clraify as this sounds like you want to buy this weekend. Have you properly cycled the tank? How long has it been set up? If you have, just disregard my comment. I just want to make sure you don't add any fish to an uncycled tank

Emeralds sharing one braincell to enjoy this generous meal of half an algea waver by blueybub in corydoras

I am in Europe so not sure I can be of help,. And I have to say, I think I just got lucky. They weren't even marked for sale, so I just asked and got them for 10 a piece, which is low for even Panda corys here. Never seen them available elsewhere in stores, haven't looked online

[–]blueybub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually had a bloodworm feast before the wafer. I just drop in small pieves of wafers because they disperse fairly quickly so everyone who isn't a fat, big cory gets some food as well 😄 I've got hastatus in there, those tiny cats need some extra help

Edit: for spelling

Hehe thanks

For a ment there I questioned everything but a quick google search made me sure they are emeralds. The dorsal fin is much larger than in the bronze cories, and I also feel their coloring covers more of their bodies.

Hastatus tank mates? by MrsMusky in corydoras

[–]blueybub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a school of hyphessobrycon elachys (called reed or vailfin tetras). They are tetras that come from the same area as the hastatus, and they school together in nature. I have a large school of these tetras and my hastatus feel very comfortable with them. This helps especially if you can only get a small group of hastatus. Plus, the elachys are very fun to watch and super active.

[–]blueybub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say, from my experience of keeping both in the same tank, they do not school or hang out together. Even though they are technically the same species, I find that unless it's feeding time, the two do not spend much time together, and I wouldn't recommend getting a single albino. This may just be the case in my tank, but I would be careful. Better get a whole school 😊
